WWE Monday Night Raw on Oct. 8 saw the return of John Cena and Vince McMahon and finished with McMahon stepping into the ring to fight WWE Champion CM Punk.
The show opened with John Cena coming to the ring and saying how much he missed the WWE fans, since he missed all of one week with his injury. He said he wants CM Punk at Hell in a Cell. As he left, Ryback walked past him for his match, a beat down of Epico and Primo. The match was a decent one, and wasn’t so much of a squash as it was a fight.
Next up, we are supposed to have Truth fight Brodus Clay, but they dance instead.
Following this, Vince McMahon made his return to the WWE. He started to talk about the state of the company when CM Punk came out and demanded his respect. McMahon said he was not a “CM Punk guy,” so Punk slapped him. McMahon demanded a match and Punk accepted.
In the next match, Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara beat the Prime Time Players to move on to the finals of the current tag team tournament.
Sheamus and Wade Barrett fought next in a long, great big man match. The two looked really good against each other and this was Sheamus’ second great match, following last week’s bout with Damien Sandow. Sheamus won by DQ when Tensai attacked him. Big Show tried to get a sneak attack and ended up sending Sheamus to the floor. Sheamus hit head first and looked like he was really out of it after the match.
US Champion Antonio Cesaro fought Tyson Kidd in the next match and won with the Neutralizer. It was another good match in a series of them tonight.
Team Hell No fought Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match and Hell No won when Kane chokeslammed Ziggler for the three count. This continued the long line of great matches on the evening.
Next up Larry King interviewed the Miz in a brutal segment that was only saved when Kofi Kingston showed up and beat up Miz. Hopefully, this means a good push for Kingston this time around.
Team Rhodes Scholars beat Santino Marella and Zack Ryder in the other tag team tournament match and they will face Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara next week to see who fights Team Hell No at Hell in a Cell. Eve defended her Diva’s title in the next match and beat Kaitlyn by submission.
Finally, in the WWE Monday Night Raw main event, CM Punk attacked Vince McMahon before the bell and beat him down. However, McMahon fought back and ended up with a kendo stick. McMahon ended up with a cut beside his eye but laid into Punk with the stick until Punk finally got his own. Punk eventually took the advantage with a low blow. However, before he could hit the GTS, Ryback showed up. Punk tried to run but Cena threw him back to the monster.
Ryback tried for his Shellshock, but Punk rolls out and escapes into the crowd. McMahon said that Punk has a choice for Hell in a Cell. He will either fight John Cena or Ryback and if he doesn’t choose next week, McMahon will choose for him.
