WWE Monday Night Raw on Oct. 15 presented WWE Champion CM Punk the opportunity to choose his opponent for the Hell in a Cell PPV. The finals of the No. 1 contenders tag team tournament was also supposed to take place. Here is a look at what happened on the most recent episode of Raw.
Big Show opens the show by coming out and talking about how his finishing move has scientifically been proven to be more devastating than Sheamus’ move. He then said he is tired of hearing people talk about his 45 second loss to Daniel Bryan, so AJ Lee said Bryan had to fight Big Show. Bryan fought hard but Show beat him pretty quick. Kane came down and laughed at Bryan but when Show tried to KO Bryan after the match, Kane saved him.
After the break, Paul Heyman was in the ring. He called out CM Punk to make his decision for Hell in a Cell. However, when the fans kept booing him, he said he would make them wait. However, Vince McMahon came out and said that he would make the decision instead later in the show. Backstage, Punk told Heyman to tell Vince that he wanted to fight him tonight, but when Heyman did, Vince refused.
Next up, Alberto Del Rio beat Brodus Clay by making the big man tap out in a quick match. The Prime Time Players next beat Team CoBro (Santino Marella and Zack Ryder). After that match the 3MB (Three Man Band – Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal) attacked and beat down CoBro.
Dolph Ziggler came out next and said he wanted to fight for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell instead of Ryback, win that belt, and then cash in his Money in the Bank to also win the World Championship, and hold both titles. David Otunga came out and agreed with a lot of what Ziggler said, but said he deserved the title shot. AJ booked them in a handicap match against Ryback. The match ended when Ryback pinned Otunga when Ziggler walked out.
US Champion Antonio Cesaro beat Justin Gabriel in a really good match. Next up, Matt Striker demanded an apology from Kane but he said the word “crazy” and AJ booked him in a match with Kane. Kane won with a choke slam.
Miz-TV was next and The Miz interviewed Kofi Kingston. The two fight this week on Main Event and Miz cut a great promo about how no one cares about Kofi. It ended when Kofi attacked Miz and the two agreed to fight tonight.
Sheamus got a rematch with Wade Barrett, after the two fought last week. Sheamus won by disqualification when Big Show interfered but Sheamus hit the Brogue kick after the match.
John Cena went to Vince McMahon and said he wanted to fight, no matter what the doctors said. Later on the show, McMahon asked Ryback what he wants and the big man said “feed me Punk.”
In a match for the Diva’s championship, Eve Torres beat Layla despite the challenger’s leg being on the rope. I think it is the same referee that missed Punk’s leg on the ropes a few weeks back.
The tag team tournament finals were cancelled when Rey Mysterio called in with the flu. Instead, The Rhodes Scholars fought Epico and Primo and the finals will be next week. This was a fantastic match, which ended with Damien Sandow won with a nice twisting neckbreaker.
The next match is the Miz and Kofi Kingston in a non-title match. In what was a fantastic match, Kofi Kingston won with a Trouble in Paradise kick that knocked Miz completely out. While it is not completely clear, it looked like Kofi legitimately connected with Miz on the kick and the ringside physician attended to him after the match. It looked like Miz was bleeding.
The final segment on the show focused on Vince McMahon’s decision. He called out CM Punk, Ryback and John Cena. Cena must not be cleared because he took the mic and said he didn’t want to take the match because Punk needs to be beat up and he wants to see Ryback do it. He got the fans chanting “Feed Me More” and then left the ring. Ryback finished the show by hitting the Shell Shock on Punk.
