Take a look at two fun and unique items on my radar this month:
Quick overview: Warm, cozy pedicure boots.
My review: We tested the low boot in coconut creme. ($68, pictured below) These boots are brilliant for anyone who likes to continue with their pedicure ritual year round. No matter how nasty the weather gets outside, put the boots on and drive to the salon or spa. They are warm and comfortable with adequate traction to run errands in. And the neutral colors go with everything. Once you arrive at the salon, remove the boots until it’s time for the polish. The toe area collapses so you can slide the boots back on your feet, get polished and walk right out the door with no waiting. You can even drive with them on. Once back at home, you can wear the boots until the polish is dry and stow them away for the next pedicure.
The boots are also available in a high model ($88) and come in women’s whole sizes 5 to 11. They would make a great gift for the pedicure-lover on your holiday gift list!
Tips on ordering: If you are between sizes, order a size down.
Tips on caring for your Bootie Pies: Bootie Pies are made from high-quality leather and suede, so it makes sense to treat them with waterproofing so they will last for many years worth of pedicures.
Bell Plantation PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter
Quick overview: How to improve on high calorie and high fat peanut butter, that staple for the health conscious and physically active? PB2 reduces fat through a chemical-free process. Like all Bell Plantation products, PB2 and Chocolate PB2 are all natural, preservative free, and contain no artificial sweeteners. And that makes them a sweet alternative for active lifestyles, dieters, and moms who want healthy snacks for their kids.
My review: This is some seriously good stuff! You can mix the powder with water to form rehydrated peanut butter (great for camping or back packing!), but we decided to go the smoothie route. Here is our recipe for a seriously delicious and healthy smoothie with full peanut butter flavor, but fewer calories. (2 Tablespoons peanut butter = 190 calories, 2 Tables of PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter = 45 calories)
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
Makes 1 serving
1 frozen banana
2 Tablespoons PB2 or Chocolate PB2
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup skin milk
Directions: Whirl all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Add more milk as needed for desired consistency.
PS – Bell Plantation knows their niche and they stick with it. The brand also offers two other peanut products: PBthins (tiny, positively addictive peanut butter crackers) and roasted peanut oil.
