Now that summer is over, and we have enjoyed all that fattening vacation and summer foods, most of us are starting to think about getting back into an exercise routine.
While warm temps are still enticing for some to enjoy outdoor workouts, for those who prefer a comfortable and climate-controlled indoor workout, consider Patrick Henry Mall. The mall offers a free walking program titled Walk This Way sponsored by Riverside. Doors open as early as 7:00 am Monday-Saturday and 9:00 am on Sunday for your walking convenience.
If you stop by the information desk (in front of Chick-Fil-A in the Food Court), you can pick up a complimentary booklet that features a mall walking route, a place to log your miles, information about walking and more.
A bonus for shopaholics like myself, you will be the first one to spot sales and new merchandise while window shopping during your walk. For more information on the mall walkers program and an online mall route, visit Patrick Henry Mall’s website.
If you are on the southside of Hampton Roads or another location, although there may not be a mall walking program offered at mall locations near you, you can still talk advantage of this safe and affordable exercise option. Wear a pedometer to the mall of your choice and aim for over 2,000 steps, the equivalent of one mile.
For more information on walking and pedometer use, visit The Walking Site.
