Verb Ballets on Tour
Verb returned after two weeks of performances. Audiences were breathless after the performance Carmen: Story of Passion on stage at The Akron Civic Theatre on Saturday October 13th. The show was sold out and added standing room only for the intimate experience. The audience marveled at how hard the dancers work and the expressiveness in the emotionally driven ballet. Only a mere feet away, they were drawn into the passion and intensity of the work
Verb was please to participate in the Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple Cultural Series on October 14th. Verb performed excerpts of Carmen, Eight By Benny Goodman and Duet. The company then headed off to Bradford, Pennsylvania to perform at The University of Pittsburgh/Bradford Campus Prism Series. It was a fun road trip for the company including spotting bear crossing signs along the way. When back in town the company headed to Akron to give a free performance of Peter and the Wolf at the Akron-Summit County Library presented by Young Audience of Northeast Ohio. Families enjoy the ballet and meeting the characters up close afterwards. The month finished up with a trip to Springfield to showcase at the Ohio Arts Presenters Network conference.
It has been a busy month for Verb. We are happy to be presenting a diverse repertory of works and look forward to the return of Taiwanese choreographer, Chung-Fu Chang after the new year. He will be creating a new work on the company to be premiered at the Winter Series on February 23, 2013.
It was a Zoo!
Families enjoyed a fun afternoon of activities and dance at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on October 7th to see the premiere of The Carnival of the Animals choreographed by Richard Dickinson. The afternoon benefited Verb Ballets’ Young Scholars Program for Talented Youth. We extend our thank-yous to the Co-Chairs Barbara Marcey and Richard Dickinson for helping to make the event possible. The afternoon was sponsored PFLAG Cleveland, DJP Entertainment and Denver Brooker. Check out the photos from the event here!
