“The X Factor” U.K. judge Tulisa Contostavlos, 24, is dating actor Jody Latham, 30, who plays her lover in her music video for “Sight of You.” Latham is best-known for co-starring as Phillip “Lip” Gallagher in the Channel 4 show “Shameless,” a British drama about a large dysfunctional family that spawned an American version of “Shameless” that airs in the U.S. on Showtime. Latham has also had roles in BBC’s “Eastenders” and ITV’s “The Fixer.”
According to The Sun, Contostavlos (whose stage name is Tulisa) met Latham at the Wireless Festival in August 2012. About a month later, she cast him as her lover in her music video for “Sight of You,” in which they play a couple torn apart by arguing and jealousy.
Latham and Contostavlos were each other’s dates when they went to the Halloween-themed 24th birthday party for “X Factor” U.K. contestant Rylan Clark. Other guests at the party (which was held at the Mahiki nightclub in London on October 24, 2012) were “X Factor” U.K. judge Nicole Scherzinger and several of this year’s “X Factor” U.K. contestants who made it to the Top 16.
Paparazzi snapped photos of Contostavlos and Latham holding hands outside of the Mahiki on the night the party took place. The Sun is reporting that Latham has spent the night at Contostavlos’ apartment for several nights in a row.
A “X Factor” source told The Sun: “Tulisa has told a few guys on the show that she’s dating Jody. Things have moved really fast between them. They’ve hit it off big time — they have a real connection. They both had a tough time growing up in rough parts of the country. Jody’s the life and soul of a party and Tulisa loves a night out — they are a perfect match. They’ve been inseparable this week.”
Contostavlos has been very open about her hard-partying lifestyle (she often tweets about it), and she has said in many interviews that she is attracted to “bad boys.”
In May 2011, Latham (a single father of a 10-year-old son named Jack) was busted for marijuana possession with his then-girlfriend Sarah Melia. Latham was also arrested for assault and possession of an illegal weapon during the drug bust. Police say that 25 marijuana plants worth £15,000 (or a little more than $24,000 in U.S. dollars) were found in Latham’s home. The case is pending and is headed for a trial.
Contostavlos’ ex-boyfriends include actor Jack O’Connell (whom she dated from March to June 2012), Richard “Fazer” Rawson (her N-Dubz band mate) and Justin Edwards (also known as rapper MC Ultra).
When Edwards and Contostavlos were dating in 2008, they made a pornographic video in which she is shown giving him oral sex. The video was leaked and sold in March 2012, and Contostavalos sued Edwards for leaking the video, which she said was never intended to be public. She also made a public apology to anyone who may have been offended by the video, which has now been banned under a court injunction.
In July 2012, Contostavlos’ lawsuit against Edwards was settled out of court. After Edwards had initially denied in court that he had leaked the video, when the lawsuit was settled, he admitted that he was responsible for leaking the video and he made a public apology for his actions.
Her 2012 tell-all memoir, “Honest: My Story So Far,” detailed how she dealt with the scandal over the sex video. She also revealed in the memoir that she was drugged and date raped when she was 16. Although the book (which was released in the U.K.) got a lot of publicity, it’s been a big sales flop.
Contostavlos’ first solo album, “The Female Boss,” is scheduled for a U.K. release on November 26, 2012. The album’s first two singles are “Young” (No. 1 in the U.K.) and “Live It Up” (No. 11 in the U.K.). The “Sight of You” EP was released in the U.K. on October 28, 2012.
In October 2012, she launched a fashion line called TFB (The Female Boss) that is being sold at U.K. retailer Bank. In 2011, she debuted her own TFB fragrance for women.
