We live in a time where inner peace, faith and hope are attributes that often seem elusive. The political atmosphere or environment, with its negative, defensive, demoralizing attack ads, serve no other purpose then to anger, incite, confuse and divide the voters. There seems to be no code of ethics, respect, moral responsibility, accountability, or positive examples of what true leadership should be, especially when one or the other shades or avoids the truth altogether; whose explanations or lack thereof, defy reason.
One who’s ego bound or bound by ego as many of us are, until we expand our thinking, suffer from a lack of acceptance, compassion, empathy, and the awareness that life exists outside of our own self interests and ideals. Such as these, are unable to see the forest from the trees, or separate the needs of others, from the self. They lack tolerance and acceptance for individual freedom, equality and oneness; make judgements, accusations and lean toward exclusion rather than inclusion.
We fear and hate the terrorist without, yet fail to see that each of us has a terrorist within. You see, anytime we attack another, whether it be mentally, emotionally, physically or spiritually, we are no more evolved then the outer enemy or terrorist we despise; whenever a human being is denied his or her right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” our basic freedom is in jeopardy; whenever we choose to exclude, divide, or deny equal opportunity to one person, we violate the principle of our constitution. For every action or inaction, there is a consequence.
Each of us has a choice to make don’t we? We can shake our fist at the world outside our eyes, accusing, defending and denouncing our differences thereby becoming victims, even bullies, or reach within and draw on the strength and power of the indomitable spirit that dwells in each of us, and ask for guidance and the expansion of our minds, so that we might see and be a reflection of all that is and not just a part of the whole. Pursue truth with vigor; tirerlessly seek peace and never trade faith for fear.
