Donald Trump joined “Fox and Friends” via his traditional Monday morning phone call and one of the subjects he was asked about was his $5 million offer to President Obama. He continues pushing for the President to accept this offer and he apparently doesn’t care if people think he is acting like a fool, reports the Sentinel and Enterprise Monday, October 29, 2012.
Trump’s in the headlines lately for his relentless campaign to get Obama to show documents that prove he was born in the U.S., which he went on about again on this morning news show. If Obama hands over his college transcripts, application and passport application and they are to Trump’s satisfaction, then he will immediately write a check to a charity of Obama’s choice for $5 million. Obama is given a deadline of October 31, 2012.
The news Trump shared with the audience is that while some people were upset with this at first, there has been a “tremendous momentum” of people coming on board who back him since he made this offer. Who these people are was not disclosed, but apparently Trump has a large enthusiastic following when it comes to this offer of his.
Brian Kilmeade from Fox asked Trump what he hopes to find out of this. Trump tells the Fox cast that he hopes he finds nothing out of the ordinary and that Obama was born in the U.S., but because people tend to say that they’re pretty sure that Obama was born in the U.S., this is a problem says Trump. People shouldn’t have any doubt as to where the President of the U.S is born. They should know for sure and they don’t.
Trump was also very proud to announce to the “Fox and Friend” audience that because he was on Letterman last night, Letterman beat out Leno big time in the ratings. Trump shares this bit of information as if it is a tribute to his popularity.
Donald dismisses the claims that he is acting like a fool due to people not understanding what he is trying to do here. If by chance the President wasn’t born in the U.S. then the last four years “was a sham” claims Trump. He feels that the American people have a right to know that Obama was born in the U.S. as a fact. Again, while Trump claims he truly hopes that the documents he’s asked for will show that Obama was born on U.S. soil, just getting it down as a fact is all he’s after.
President Obama has not responded to this offer and many expect him to ignore Trump’s newest request for these documents. Even though $5 million is a lot of money and a charity somewhere could benefit greatly from this, it looks as though the President won’t acknowledge this, which might be the smartest move on his part so close to the election.
