Tracey Artis is known for breaking records. As CEO of I Hear Music, Inc., a promotions and marketing firm, she has been the driving force behind the biggest songs to hit Gospel radio. Songs like Mary Mary‘s “Go Get It”, Marvin Sapp‘s “My Testimony”, Andrae Crouch‘s “Let The Church Say Amen”, Isaac Carree‘s “In The Middle” and Charles Jenkins‘ “Awesome” are all #1 Billboard-charting hits. Now Artis is celebrating with her clients in receiving 38 Stellar Award Nominations.
The Stellar Awards, the highest industry honor in the genre of Gospel music, recognize the best and brightest of the year. I Hear Music artists received a whopping 38 nominations including Mary Mary with 9, Charles Jenkins with 8, Marvin Sapp with 6, and Isaac Carree and Andrae Crouch, both with 5 each. Artists Anita Wilson and Byron Cage received nominations as well. All of the nominees in the Song of the Year category (Andrae Crouch, Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, Marvin Sapp and Mary Mary) and in the Traditional CD of the Year category (Andrae Crouch, Byron Cage, Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, and Marvin Sapp) are clients of I Hear Music.
In addition, Mary Mary will host the 28th Annual Stellar Awards and artists Israel Houghton, Marvin Sapp and Charles Jenkins are scheduled to perform. The 28th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN.
During Stellar Awards weekend, Sapp will receive the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award at The Urban Soul Café on Thursday, January 17, 2013 and Byron Cage will receive the 2013 O’Landa Draper Memorial Unsung Hero Award, also at The Urban Soul Café that same day.
Artis is thrilled with the success of her clients and what her company has been able to accomplish in the industry. “I am very excited about the artists that I Hear Music has been blessed to represent,” says Tracey. “This year’s Stellar Awards are a reflection of the artists and the amazing music they have presented. We are so happy to have had a part in their success.”
Artis got her start in the Gospel music industry when she joined the staff of Gospo Centric Records in 1997 as the company’s Radio Manager. She later went on to become Vice President of Gospel Promotions in 2001 and in 2004 when the label merged with Verity Records (Sony Division). Her industry insight helped to drive the power and success of some of contemporary Gospel music’s biggest names. Under her watch and visionary promotions plans, the world witnessed the Gold and Platinum Certification of groups and award-winning artists including Trin-i-tee 5:7, Kirk Franklin and the Family, God’s Property featuring Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr and The Kurt Carr Singers, Dorinda Clark Cole, Byron Cage, J. Moss and Marvin Sapp.
In 2009, Artis made her departure from her corporate affiliation with Verity Gospel Music Group, a division of recording industry giant Sony BMG, and launched her independent promotions and marketing company I Hear Music, Inc.
