Halloween may be over on Thursday morning but this Friday night, November 2 the freakshow continues in Boise. The Knitting Factory plays hone to “The Rise of the Underground” featuring Ripchain, Authmentis, Gypsy Saints, and The Fallen Idols.
Resident thrash-masters, Ripchain, are currently working on a new album, but are always happy to grab the stage and melt some faces. The quartet recently performed at Behind the Bars, a special charity concert held at the Old Idaho State Penitentiary to raise money for a water purification system for the Boise greenbelt. Ripchain is: David Ford –Vocals/Guitar, Joff Stone – Lead Guitar, Rene Ramirez – Drums, and Bob Davis – Bass. Offered Ford on their upcoming record: “We are currently in the studio. Our first full length album WILL be released this spring. It will boast 13 tracks of post-modern thrash metal that will both inspire and destroy! …we hope.” Ford calls the upcoming show “a rock/metal hybrid,” and thinks the show “should have a nice build from genre to genre.”
Reno, Nevada hard rock mercenaries, Authmentis will make the journey to Boise for this event. The band is described as “that pit in your stomach that knots up when something eerie is about to happen. Their music lurks up, intertwines itself tightly around your spine, rattles through your skull and mercilessly becomes part of you.” Founded in 2004, the line-up includes: Sam Spivey – Lead Vocals/Guitar, Casey Alden – Lead Guitar, Matt Spivey – Bass, Dave Emerson – Drums. The band is currently supporting its second album, “House of Shadows”. You can download free music from the band’s Facebook page, and discover their sound for yourself.

The bands features Ken Mansfield (formerly of Mansfield) – Lead Guitar, Dan Garrett (formerly of Ripchain) – Bass, Squeezer – Drums, Phil Sumpter – Keyboards, Gerrad Anthony- Vocals. Anthony has a bit of a Geoff Tate vibe to his delivery and formerly fronted the highly popular Judas Priest cover band, Defenders of the Faith. Firing up the entire event is another local favorite, The Fallen Idols. These guys recently got the honor of opening the 2012 Xfest: Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival. The band has a nice chunky modern hard rock vibe, and has released numerous albums. The Fallen Idols are: Greg Goodell (the Reverend) – Vocals and Lead Guitar, C.P. Palmer – Lead Guitar, Chase Coles- Guitar, Vocals, Kelly Long – Drums, Robert Arehart – Bass. Learn more at their Facebook page.
