After a respectable start in the co-main event of the fifth “UFC on Fuel TV” card Saturday night from the Capitol FM Arena in Nottingham, England, Amir Sadollah (6-4) fell short in a unanimous decision (two 29-28s & one 30-27) to England native Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (25-10, 1 NC).
The first round was a close one, as both hit each other with strikes, including a good kick by Sadollah to the face of Hardy. At the end of the round, Sadollah took down Hardy.
But Hardy did much better with the takedowns in the other two rounds & Sadollah suffered a few cuts to his face. This was Sadollah’s second loss in his last three fights.
In the main event, Stefan “The Skyscraper” Struve (25-5) handed Stipe Miocic (9-1) his first loss by TKO at 3:50 of Round 2. That was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
Also, bantamweight Brad “One Punch” Pickett (22-6) knocked out Yves “Tiger” Jabouin (18-8) 3:50 into their fight, earning Pickett Knockout of the Night honors.
The Submission of the Night bonus went to lightweight Matt “Handsome” Wiman (15-6) when he forced Paul “Sassangle” Sass (13-1) to tap to an armbar in 3:48, which also cost Sass his undefeated record.
Also, in welterweight action on the main card, John “The Hitman” Hathaway (17-1) won a 30-27 unanimous decision over John “The One” Maguire (18-4), and Che “Beautiful” Mills (15-5, 1 NC) was awarded a TKO over Duane “Bang” Ludwig (21-14) when Ludwig couldn’t continue due to a knee injury at 2:28 of the first round.
