The FIREPOWER Tour, featuring dub-step DJs AFK, Bare Noize, Delta Heavy, and Datsik, made it’s stop in Indianapolis, Indiana on Friday September 28th. I was able to speak with Datsik a few days prior to the show and you can see that interview here. FIREPOWER is the name of Datsik’s new record label, the tour was named after it due to the fact that AFK and GETTER who are signed to the label are opening the tour, also for Datsik it is a good way to get the name of the label out there and build hype.
When I spoke with Datsik earlier in the week he told me about the sound system that they are traveling with and assured me and fans that it would be one of the loudest shows ever. There is no doubt in my mind, no holds barred in the hundreds of concerts I’ve personally been to, that this show was by far the loudest I have ever been to. The sound system that they are bringing to every show is a 50,000 watt PK system.
The show kicks off with AFK opening up, a DJ out of Dallas, Texas. Though many of you may not be aware of him yet he is going to start making waves in the EDM genre very soon. He doesn’t get as animated as some but the beats he produces rival anyone else out there.
Bare Noize takes the stage next coming all the way from the UK this heavy hitter really got the crowd going. Quickly becoming one of the most sought after producers, having a great year in 2011 doing remixes for some very big names such as; Ellie Goulding, Tinie Tempah, and even Lady Gaga. The time is now to check out his mixes.
Another act from the UK takes stage next in Delta Heavy. These 2 trade off mixing and hyping the crowd. Of all the opening acts I think the crowd responded best to these guys. They pumped the crowd up into some of the best dance circles that took place that night.
And finally the curtain pulls back revealing “The Vortex” and Datsik. The Vortex is a white cone, in which Datsik performs his mixes, that utilizes 3-D mapping. When I spoke with Datsik earlier in the week he talked to me about it and said that it was something that was hard to describe without seeing it. I agree, I had an idea of what to expect but I wasn’t sure of how exactly it would look, once it is revealed it becomes clear that this is something you’ve never seen before. The crowd absolutely exploded as soon as the first bass drop hit. The set list featured tracks from the new album “Vitamin D” as well as a variety of old cuts. The visual effects of The Vortex will continue to captivate audiences. It is done so well that the visuals bring the attention of the crowd straight to Datsik, there is no distraction on stage from him and his performance.
This show is not something to think about, it is not something to miss, it is something you should call in to work for to attend. When I spoke to Datsik he assured me that this tour is going to be one of the best parties anyone goes to all year, he was right. This is the show that you will go to your friends and brag that you were at, and laugh at them for missing. The ticket prices are very reasonable and for the length of performance and quality of sound everyone will get more than their money’s worth. You can grab your tickets here.
