September is the month for sipping in the Temecula Valley Wine Country and it’s not too late to take advantage of some special events and money-saving opportunities. Celebrating California Wine Month, the Temecula wineries are in the midst of harvesting grapes and offering a variety of special packages that will enhance your enjoyment of this area’s wonderful wines.
The Temecula Valley, which is at its most beautiful right now, includes more than 35,000 acres of lush vineyards on rolling hills. Wineries dot these hills with charming tasting rooms, luscious wines, and majestic vistas. The area is conveniently located about an hour from San Diego, Riverside, Orange County, and the Palm Springs area. Many of the wineries are family-owned and provide guests with an ambience and personalized wine tasting experience not found in many other wine areas. Several wineries offer exquisite cuisine and picnic grounds. Some luxurious overnight accommodations are also available at a variety of picturesque resorts and inns.
A highlight of California Wine Month in Temecula is the 3rd Annual CRUSH, a culinary and wine showcase for the Temecula Valley. This event is only two days away, on Saturday, September 15, from 6:30 to 9:30 at the lovely and newly renovated Callaway Vineyard and Winery. Wineries will be serving ample wine tastings all evening and local restaurants and chefs will be serving unlimited gourmet plates. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to mingle with winery owners, winemakers, and chefs. Tickets are available for $75 (or $100 for VIP tickets) and can be purchased online through the Temecula Valley Wine Growers Association or by phone at 800-801-9463.
Another feature of California Wine Month in Temecula is the exclusive SIP passport, which is available for $50 for the month of September. This pass allows you to taste full wine flights at five of 35 wineries. The pass is accepted at all 35 wineries seven days a week during the month of September. These tickets can be purchased online through the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association or by phone at 800-801-9643.
A special SIP & RIDE package is also available. This package includes the SIP passport, a souvenir glass, and wine shuttle service via the Grapeline Wine Country Shuttle. These tickets are also available through the Temecula Winegrowers Association online.
In addition, SIP & Stay Overnight packages are available for the rest of September and include a SIP passport, and an overnight stay at one of four lovely settings either in or close to Temecula Valley Wine Country. These hotels include Ponte Vineyard Inn, South Coast Winery Resort and Spa, and the Inn at Europa Village, which are sold out for CRUSH weekend but available the rest of September. Temecula Creek Inn still has packages available for CRUSH weekend plus the rest of September. Reservations can be made online at the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association hotel site.
