Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra are reportedly filming for their very own spin-off. According to Catelynn’s dad, the couple has been filming their wedding planning for the alleged show. However, MTV released a preview clip of the new “Teen Mom” special airing next month and it appears that most of the planning has already been captured for the cameras! Does this mean that there won’t be a spin-off after all?
Anytime one of the cast members is caught filming (it seems to happen a lot lately), fans are quick to assume that means a spin-off is in order. Maci Bookout has been caught filming, but she adamantly denies that she is getting her own show. Farrah Abraham has confirmed that the cameras will continue to follow her life, but it turns out that it may not be an MTV camera crew following her. However, she hasn’t revealed which network her show will be on, but there are many signs which point to somewhere other than MTV.
Last week, Catelynn Lowell’s dad confirmed that his daughter and Tyler Baliterra had been filming their wedding planning. He even said that the wedding itself will be captured for fans. While it is easy to see how that could be construed as a spin-off, it is quite possible that all of the filming is simply for “Teen Mom” update specials. No one expected for their to be three specials next month, so who is to say that MTV won’t be airing a few more throughout the year leading up to a grand special of Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra’s wedding?
Obviously, giving the girls their own “Teen Mom” spin-off’s is a good idea because they have established fan bases. On the other hand, though, it can become expensive. While the girls initially weren’t making bank (and their salaries never officially revealed), Amber Portwood reportedly revealed to the courts that she earned nearly $240,000 in a year from MTV. If that is the case, then continuing to pay the girls huge salaries for a series may not be something the network wants to do.
If MTV does give one of the girls a spin-off, it seems that Catelynn Lowell or Maci Bookout would be the likely candidates. Farrah Abraham isn’t the most liked of the girls, but she also is the least “Teen Mom” of them at this point. She has worked hard to shed her reality star image and is branching off into different endeavors. Maci Bookout, though, has always been a fan favorite and, with her recent split from Kyle King (and rumored reconciliation with Kyle Regal) could certainly bring the drama that the network wants.
