Sutter Home Family Vineyards devised a unique way to promote breast cancer awareness with their Capsules for Hope campaign. For every seal or receipt from a Sutter Home bottle of wine that a consumer sends in Sutter Home will done $1 towards breast cancer research, treatment and education, up to $100,000. This year’s program launched in August and will continue through December 31, 2012. The initiative was started 11 years ago when Vera Trinchero, an owner in the family-run winery business, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since that time Sutter Home has donated over $800,000 to the cause.
Fundraising continues throughout the year with other activities supported by Sutter Home for Hope, such as live and virtual Walks for Hope. In addition, photos of people with breast cancer may be uploaded to the Sutter Home Facebook page and Sutter Home will donate $1 for each photo to the fight against breast cancer. The funds are donated to City of Hope, a leading research center located in Duarte, California, to support research and treatment of women with breast cancer.
Pink is the color of Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Sutter Home is the picture of pink with this year’s launch of Pink Moscato and Bubbly Pink Moscato. According to Nielsen Market Research the Bubbly Pink Moscato is the #1 new wine in America. The crisp, floral sparkler is harvested from the venerable Moscato grape, an old Italian varietal, and fermented in cold stainless steel. Moscato is gaining in popularity across the U.S., growing 31% in the last six months. It is typically lower in alcohol than many other wines (around 10% vs 11-14% for most wines, or up to 24% for dessert wines).
Sutter Home wines can be sampled at their tasting room in St. Helena, in the heart of Napa Valley. Sutter Homes wines are widely distributed across the U.S..
Sutter Homes has demonstrated their long-term commitment to supporting breast cancer research and education through Sutter Home for Hope, where people can get involved in multiple ways from sending in wine bottle seals for the Capsules for Hope initiative to posting pictures of themselves or loved ones who have breast cancer on Facebook.
