Toronto Style Examiner presented you Bask-It-Style Lounge 2012 that took place in Toronto during TIFF days, in the two previous articles. Alimento was founded by the Contardi Brothers; Marco, Anthony, Joe and Albert Jr., who come from cheese makers and sellers dating back over 40 years. Their grandfather Marco Sr. was the founder of Grande Cheese, which has been carried on by their father Albert Sr. and has now passed into the four brothers’ hands. The brothers wanted to do something unique, fun and young. After pondering these concepts and their background the idea for Alimento was born.

Painter Donna Koster has a BFA in Visual Arts from York University, and has studied at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design. She has shown her work around the world, including recent shows in Asia, New York City and the UK. Her work is currently on display at Goodenough College in London. Spontaneity plays a powerful role in her work. She crafts her art using acrylic paints, oil stick, and Indian ink while incorporating fragmentation into her pieces. She is interested in abstract expressionist work, the experimental process and enjoys blurring the boundary between the illusion of what is real and what has been created.

Fashion Cares Charitable Organization. A critical, artistic and financial success since it’s inception in 1987, Fashion Cares builds awareness of HIV/AIDS while raising funds for the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT). Combining local and international fashion talent with the design and business communities, this always sold out, media and celebrity-studded evening caps elegant cocktails and cuisine with a rousing auction, a theatrical runway event, and an entertainment spectacle. With a 22-year attendance record of over 50 thousand guests and volunteers, Fashion Cares has netted profits of nearly $12 million dollars to date. During the week leading up to Fashion Cares (September 9th 2012), also known as Fashion Cares Week (which took place in Toronto from September 2nd through September 9th 2012), retailers, businesses, notable landmarks, cultural institutions and consumers were invited to Light Up the City Red in celebration of the 25th anniversary gala in support of the AIDS Committee of Toronto and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Light Up the City Red participants were invited to donate a percentage of sales during Fashion Cares Week, or to make a corporate donation or gift, and light up red in support of the cause.
F*CK Cancer Charitable Organization is on a mission to save lives by spreading one simple message: 90% of cancer is curable in stage one! Money raised from the sales of t-shirts goes towards funding research at various cancer initiatives throughout North America. Each coloured shirt represents a different cancer ribbon and the shirts are also used as tickets to gain entrance into F*CK Cancer events.
