Here is a quick roundup of some of the latest happenings in the social media world.
The latest version of Firefox Beta got a new feature this week: Facebook Messenger for Firefox.
The app allows users to see who, among their friends, is online and chat with them without having to visit Facebook. Notifications, friend requests and messages are displayed in the top right of their browser.
To start using Facebook Messenger for Firefox, upgrade to the latest Firefox Beta. Then visit this page to turn the feature on.
“We’re really excited about this new feature and we need your help to test it,” says the team in an email sent to subscribers. “Then give us your feedback to make it better as we get ready to release the feature to all Firefox users.”

This week, LinkedIn also revealed its list of most sought-after employers in the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands. Companies include BBC, Google, Microsoft, L’Oréal, Chanel, Philips, KLM, and HP.
“[W]e analyzed a massive data set of interactions between LinkedIn members and companies,” says Will Hamlin on the company’s blog. “We honed in on the specific actions that indicate familiarity with and interest in working for a company: connecting with employees, viewing employee profiles, visiting Company and Career Pages, and following companies. We then looked specifically at behavior of our 17M+ members in the UK, France and the Netherlands to identify the most attractive employers in those countries.”
