Sharon Osbourne has gone public with her wishes to go back to being a judge on “The X Factor” U.K., but at least one person in her family is completely against the idea. Kelly Osbourne, Sharon’s 27-year-old daughter, thinks that Sharon needs to take a break from talent shows and spend more time being a grandmother.
Sharon Osbourne (the wife/manager of rock star Ozzy Osbourne) was a judge on ITV1’s “The X Factor” U.K. from 2004 to 2007, when she quit the show because of personality clashes with fellow judge Dannii Minogue. (Minogue was a judge on the show from 2007 to 2010.) Sharon was a judge on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” (another talent show executive produced by Simon Cowell) from 2007 to 2012. She quit “America’s Got Talent” amid her controversial claim that NBC had reneged on a verbal agreement to cast her 26-year-old son, Jack, on the reality show “Stars Earn Stripes” after Jack was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. NBC has denied that the network discriminated against Jack because of his medical condition.
Jack and his 25-year-old fiancée, Lisa Stelly, welcomed their daughter, Pearl, into the world on April 24, 2012. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a few weeks after the birth of Pearl.
Kelly told the Daily Mirror: “I know everybody is wanting Mum to go back to ‘X Factor’ but I don’t want it to happen. I don’t want her on any talent show now. She’s spent years being in shows like that and it’s tiring for her and if I’m honest I would hate it if she did that again. She needs to take a break and enjoy life a bit more. She is nearly retirement age, for God’s sake. I think all of my family actually got to the point where we wanted our mum back. I’m really selfish with it and I think her recently quitting ‘America’s Got Talent’ has been like a weight off all of our shoulders.”
Sharon is still a co-host of the CBS weekday chat show “The Talk,” which is based in Los Angeles. If Sharon became a judge on “The X Factor” U.K. again, it would not be possible for her to do “The Talk” at the same time. In September 2012, Sharon returned to “The X Factor” U.K. as a guest mentor paired with judge Louis Walsh. The “judges’ houses” episodes that they filmed in Las Vegas will be televised in October 2012.
Kelly was a rumored contender to host “The X Factor” U.S., but Cowell has told the media that she is not getting the job. (Cowell has admitted that Khloe Kardashian is his first choice.) Kelly is currently a panelist on E! Entertainment Television’s “Fashion Police,” which reviews the fashions that celebrities wear.
