Dilliards Fashion Night Out, with Carson Kressley, was a day/night filled with laughter, quick wit, local paparazzi and excited fans. Unless you’ve been under a rock the last few years, Carson Kressley has been making inroads into most recently, “Dancing With The Stars” as a contestant. For the worldwide, highly-touted broadcast, shown for 13 seasons by the ABC Network. Carson was also, contracted to host the DWTS Las Vegas Live, with other members, Sabrina Bryan, Kyle Massey, who had competed on the television series. He has been hitting the bricks pretty hard, since his Emmy winning days as a star for “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” on the Bravo Network. Carson Kressley is also a renowned television star, stylist and presenter, because when speaking he gives an enlightening “POV” from a men and woman’s perspective on positive and insightful outlooks, on how to become a better person, from the inside out.
With some of the sterling star qualities I’ve mentioned about Mr. Kressley, one can easily surmise why he was sought after and tapped by Dilliards management, more specifically, the General Manager of Zona Rosa, Ms. Rosemary Salerno. And he was given the celebrity responsibilities to be an impactful figurehead for Kansas City’s 2nd Fashion Night Out. In hopes of continuing to spur consumer confidence and spending in the retail segment of society and GNP. Since this was the 2nd year local shopping districts had joined forces, and with Carson Kressley being a native New Yorker, where 3 years ago this Fashion Night Out event was conceived by the City of New York, who then partnered with Vogue Magazine for a successful initial foray into revitalizing consumer excitement for fashion shopping. Kansas City’s 1st year of FNO partnerships, included Zona Rosa, Country Club Plaza and Power & Light District, which proved to be a tremendous team and successful business partnership, within itself. And for 2012 with the addition of the “fashion guru” at the helm, another fantastic and successful FNO venture was achieved, again. Even as Kansas City was holding their commemorative FNO, this event was simultaneously replicated worldwide in other cities, such as; Milan, Atlanta and Los Angeles to name a few. And to quote the Marketing Director of the Country Club Plaza, Ms. Gayle Terry, ” We were thrilled with the 1st year on the Plaza. The crowds, fashion events in the stores and weather were all just perfect. we are looking forward to joining the other districts for more fun in year two.”And now I’m sure with the successful 2012 behind them, 2013 will enhance the Kansas City shopping districts mettle and visual scope to escalate to greater benchmarks.
I must admit that as I watched Carson Kressley move deftly from one shopping event to another for the Dillard stores, I was professionally smitten by his gracious acceptance of each and every client, customer, store associate, media, photographer or talkative fan with professional aplomb, kindness, and a devilish quick wit, which held true to his bio signature statement, “wit with a heart!”
