Episode 2, “Resurrection,” of ‘Revenge,’ season 2 aired Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. and centered on Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) plan to extract revenge on Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) for what she did to Emily’s mother.
Emily’s plan is take Victoria’s daughter, Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) and real half-sister, away from Victoria. To set the wheels in motion, she tells Daniel (Josh Bowman) that she thinks Char’s doctor, who is on Conrad Grayson’s (Henry Czerny) payroll, may have fudged Char’s drug test results to keep Char in the rehab center.
Playing right into Em’s hands, Daniel confronts Char’s doctor and then goes to see Em. He apologizes for not believing her and offers to take her home. She asks about her inheritance and he tells her Conrad has already taken it, saying she was unfit to handle it. Char throws Daniel out of her room, preferring to leave with Em, who, has fortuitously shown up by this time.
Emily offers to let Charlotte stay with her but Char asks Em to take her to her mother. Char tells Emily the plan had been to use her inheritance so she and her mother could leave the country and make a new start. Now that the money is gone, she doesn’t know what will happen and Emily assures her that surely her mother cares more about her than the money.
On the way there, Emily stops at the beach and tells Charlotte that Amanda (Margarita Levieva) is back and pregnant. The two girls are reunited before Emily takes Char to see Victoria.
Once reunited with her mother, Char learns that Mommy really is only interested in the money and now that it’s gone, she sends Charlotte away. Emily is consoling but takes Char back to the Grayson home.
Meanwhile, Daniel barges into his father’s business meeting, demanding to speak with him privately. He confronts him about what he did to Charlotte and that things are far from over between them.
So far Emily’s plan is working well. Soon Charlotte will be turned against her own mother and Daniel is seeing his father for who he really is too. But just as things seem to be humming along, Victoria does something unexpected. Victoria calls Grayson, revealing that she is alive and tells him that he must follow her directions or she will haunt him the rest of his miserable life. When he gets there, she tells Conrad to hit her, hard. Nothing would give him greater pleasure.
To make things right with his sister, Daniel presents her with a new trust fund comprised of his half of the inheritance to make up for what happened to her. She asks why and he says because when she was born, he promised mom he would look after her and he is.
The white-haired man (James Morrison) arrives at Victoria’s house and finds her tied up and beaten. He asks who did this to her and she says “you did and you better run,” just as the sound of sirens fill the airwaves. He flees and Conrad arrives with the police looking very distraught.
Emily returns to her own home and via the hidden webcam, she sees the police talking to Victoria and Conrad. They are going home together, reunited. Emily knows her plan is falling apart.
Back at home, the events are explained to Daniel and Charlotte separately. Victoria tells Charlotte that the man who was going to help them flee became enraged when he learned there was no money and he beat her. Conrad tells Daniel that Victoria had been kidnapped and the man was bleeding him dry. That’s why he needed the kids’ inheritance money. Both kids buy the stories and the family is reunited. Charlotte tells Victoria that Emily knows everything.
Emily gets a call from the white-haired man who wants to barter for the footage Emily has that will exonerate him. They meet and she asks in exchange for the footage to learn what happened to her mother. He tells her he accompanied Victoria to the hospital where her mother was being kept. He heard Victoria tell her about David’s past and his involvement with murder and terrorism and that he would be charged soon. They lead Emily’s mother away and before she can learn whether or not he killed her mother, the white-haired man attacks Emily with a knife. He is shot from behind, saving Emily, by Aiden (Barry Sloan) who has been secretly watching Emily.
