With “Hell in a Cell” coming up, WWE “Raw” took place on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 and it continued to set up the big pay-per-view set for Oct. 28, 2012. Only a couple weeks remain until the pay-per-view that consists of multiple demonic structure matches, and things need to be settled before we get there.
~ Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Rhodes Scholars: It was nice to actually see a wrestling match start off the show instead of the usual interview. The match itself wasn’t much, but wasn’t too bad either and it is great to see the team of Rhodes Scholars advancing through the tag team tournament and going on to face the champions.
~ Kofi Kingston vs. Michael McGillicutty: The Miz is on commentary and Kofi squashed this match. McGillicutty has fallen so far.
~ John Cena came out and said that Ryback will defeat CM Punk at the PPV. Punk came out and they jabbed back and forth at each other before Cena threatened to beat his butt now. Punk tried to get in the ring, but Paul Heyman talked him out of it.
~ Antonio Cesaro vs. Justin Gabriel: Holy moley! This was a really good, but short, match on free television and it actually saw Gabriel break out the 450 splash and pick up the win on the US Champion. It appears as if a rematch for the title will be happening soon.
~ Vince McMahon, AJ Lee, Paul Heyman come out to talk about the general manager of the show. Then, AJ resigned as GM and Vickie Guerrero was introduced as the “Managing Supervisor of Raw.” This was an awfully boring segment and just much too long.
~ Ryback vs. The Miz: Fun while it lasted, but you know Ryback isn’t losing here.
~ The divas brawled around.
~ Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler: This was another great match along with the tag bout from earlier. Making matters better is that Ziggler nailed Bryan with the ZigZag to get a much needed victory. For those that love just good wrestling, make sure you somehow check out this match and see it now.
~ Rhodes Scholars vs. Team Hell No in a game show turned into a big nothing. This was horrible.
~ The Big Show vs. Kane: Team Rhodes Scholars interfered as expected and Big Show ended up getting the win with the big punch.
~ Alberto del Rio vs. Zack Ryder: Del Rio wins in the expected squash.
~ Lumberjack Match – CM Punk vs. Sheamus: There are a ton of guys around the ring. There was just far too much going on here to be anything worthwhile, but it was mostly there to build up the hype for the PPV. Eventually, Big Show interfered on behalf of beating up Sheamus and Punk got the win.
After it was done, Ryback came in and destroyed Punk with the help of the good guy lumberjacks.
