Forecast discussion: A low pressure system in the Gulf of Maine helped keep showers over Providence until the morning commute. For the rest of the day, we remained under cloudy skies with occasional drizzle. A weak area of low pressure moving out of the eastern Great Lakes will move into New England tomorrow, creating some isolated to scattered showers into early Monday morning.
A weak high pressure ridge over the Atlantic will help bring some drier air over the region Monday night and part of Tuesday morning. However, the dry weather will be brief. The computer models are bringing a low pressure system currently over southern Texas towards the Mid-Atlantic for Tuesday afternoon. The warm front associated with the low will help bring another round of showers over the state early Tuesday evening right into early Thursday morning. A high pressure system will bring drier weather by Thursday afternoon.
The high will give us nice weather to start the weekend on Friday. In fact, high temperatures will reach the upper 60’s to lower 70’s. But, a very strong cold front will make its way into the Central U.S. by Saturday. We will see increasing cloudiness Saturday afternoon, as moisture moves into the region ahead of this front. We may see some below normal temperatures for early October going into Columbus Day. However, my confidence on this is low, as we are still a week and a half away from this time frame.
At this time, there are no tropical systems in the Eastern Pacific. In the Atlantic, Hurricane Nadine continues to churn in the eastern Atlantic, but poses no threat to any landmass at this time.
