Earlier this year, America witnessed the birth of the now immortal catchphrase:”ain’t nobody got time for that”…! Each Sunday, church goers are forced to hear their Pastor’s political views and rants while held captive during their sermons. Some, they amenable with, others not so much! Either way, this politically driven preaching gets no one saved and even if effective, only wins votes for a candidate that more than likely won’t keep their campaign’s promises! Long after elections are over the members that left don’t come back. The people in search of prayer and deliverance stop seeking it and churches and Pastors are forced to look in the mirror to figure out why they’re failing!
Let’s give ’em something to preach about!
The Kingdom and Lordship of Christ is now. When the focus of the church shifts from eternal to temporal, trouble is sure to come! Look around now, the church is in trouble. With its voice being victimized and its hand being crippled, today’s church in America looks nothing like Christ’s church! Churches are losing the glue found in the love of Christ with each political endorsement.
Political platforms are woven into weekly messages, many that don’t fully represent the true demographic of each local church. The laity is unwittingly made privy to their Pastor’s inter-week interactions through cryptic statements made during the worship service. Interracial congregations become battlegrounds between co-worshipping Christian republicans and democrats. Ornate houses of worship become “gaudy temples” as accusations fly amidst sudden speculation of political gifts and financial misappropriation.
In America, politics is just another trick of Satan to divide Christ’s church. The natural realm is an illustration of the spiritual realm. There was a contest for rule in Heaven and Jesus told how that politicking (Ez.28:13-19) came to end (Luke 10:18). To quote the Savior in Matt. 16:18, not even the gates of hell will prevail against the Lord’s church, so why is the church allowing politics to do it?
Christ’s Kingdom is NOW and is in every believer! Early voting has begun in Texas and as you vote, vote for the Kingdom! Though American politics pits candidates and political parties against each other, believers can never forget that the Kingdom of God is at hand (Mk.1:15), it will come and His will shall be established in the earth (Matt.6: 10). Citywide, statewide, regionally and nationally, no “law” against Christ’s church(they are already being initiated as bills) and her principles will reign supreme despite its rigid enforcement.
Believers should never fear prosecution for Lord’s sake, that time will surely come and in some places in America it’s already here. The political season is the perfect opportunity for Pastors to equip church goers with the foundational truth of Christ and His Kingdom. As Kingdom Citizens, we should know how the King of Kings would have his subjects to behave! In Heaven there is no race, there is no immorality, and there are no social classes. This message will never come from Politicians, and should be the ONLY thing coming from the pulpit!!!!
In the earthly realm those in leadership are constantly jockeying for power. Politicians can be clandestine charlatans, but there is a coming King whose pronouncement has been made and his arrival foretold. He’s not coming with yard signs and press conferences; He’s coming via the daily and weekly announcements that flow from His house of prayer! It’s the preacher’s job to stump for Jesus. If not they need a time-out because in actuality, Jesus…ain’t got time for that!
