Hello once again, Clinton Bowman is back once again, this time taking a look at the week ahead for all things PlayStation 3 related. Last week was a huge week for the PlayStation 3, with the releases of Namco Bandai’s Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which I got to play all this week, as well as WayForward’s Double Dragon Neon and EA Sports’ NHL ’13. However, this week continues an influx of big-budget releases leading into the holiday season. With Resident Evil 6, Assassin’s Creed III, the Sega Heritage Collection and Borderlands 2 on the horizon, the Autumn 2012 game season looks like it’s going to be huge…especially if Capcom can get its act together!
Note: All titles on this list release on September 18th, 2012. You can purchase these games at your local gaming shop, such as Game Champ, located on 6 Nevins Street, in Downtown Brooklyn.

- Borderlands 2
- Publisher: 2K Games/Gearbox Software
- Genre: First Person Shooter/Role Playing
- MSRP: $59.99
Borderlands 2, the sequel to the hit 2009 game Borderlands, is an action RPG/first person shooter hybrid, set in the world of Pandora. The game follows 5 new characters in their quest to stop Handsome Jack and the Hyperion Corporation. There is Salvador, a Gunzerker, Maya, a Siren, Axton, the Soldier, Zer0, the assassin and Gaige, a red-headed cyborg (Gaige will be released on October 16th, free to those who pre-ordered the game from select retail outlets.) This game has been vastly improved from its predecessor, having the world and the story connected to each other unlike in the previous game, creating a sense of urgency in some missions, as well as vast AI improvements.
- F1 2012
- Publisher: Codemasters
- Genre: Racing
- MSRP: $59.99
F1 2012 is the next installment in the long standing Formula 1 racing game series. This year’s edition will contain two new innovations. “Young Driver Test” is a tutorial mode that will introduce new players to F1 driving, before going into Career Mode, and Champions Mode will be a fun little addition, where the player will race the 6 champions of 2011 in race situations that suit them. Players can expect to enjoy this mode, as it should help improve their skills immensely.
- Jet Grind Radio/Jet Set Radio*
- Publisher: Sega
- Genre: Action/Adventure
- MSRP: $10
For those that remember the original Jet Grind Radio, this game is the exact same thing, except in brand spanking new HD! There are 10 characters, 18 missions, glorious soundtrack and tagging everything without getting arrested! It was an awesome game back in 1999 and it’s just as glorious on PlayStation Network. Noticeable differences are that the American soundtrack has been replaced in full with the Japanese tracks and the right analog stick controls the camera, making for a brand new experience with a classic game. This game is the first of the Sega Heritage games to be released over the next three months, and this is an excellent start to a great season for Sega.
- Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Box Set
- Publisher: Capcom
- Genre: Fighting
- MSRP: $149.99
Included in this box set is Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, the largely ill-received Street Fighter X Tekken, codes to download Third Strike Online Edition and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, costume and character DLC, the Street Fighter Animated Series, Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, The Street Fighter IV OVAs, a documentary, art book, Ryu statue and replica belt, 11 disc soundtrack collection, and a certificate of authenticity, all in a nice box to hold them in. Unfortunately, games such as the original Street Fighter, Pocket Fighter, Puzzle Fighter and the Alpha series aren’t included in the box set, but for $150, this collection is perfect for collectors who don’t mind the omissions.
It’s going to be a fairly quiet week this week, but next week looks like it will be worth the wait with all the releases that will be coming your way. Remember, you can purchase most of these games at a local gaming store, such as Game Champ, located on 6 Nevins Street, in Downtown Brooklyn. Until next time, friends!
