The film and music video, “Truth Will Rise Again: A Film on the Unprecedented 2012 Presidential Election” is a compilation of actual news, archival footage and photos creating a quick illustration of the presidential campaign of Republican candidate Mitt Romney and the tactics employed to prop up the fact-light and finance-heavy campaign.
Written and directed by author and journalist Wynne Alexander, it features recent news events, history and fact-checking on one of the most unusual and frankly racist election campaigns of the modern era. The film was designed to enlighten ‘undecided’ voters and also spark outrage resulting in higher voter turn-out on Election Day.
Alexander also wrote the words and music with compelling lead vocals by famed singer, Pastor Alice Martin of the Voice of Praise Worldwide Ministries of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Co-produced by Slife Productions’ Jason Fifield, known for his work in both the Jazz community and high profile commercial videography, the combination of multicultural talent serves up a profound look at what drives parts of American society. Explaining the reason for making the film, Alexander said, “I wanted people to get a clear, quick look at the type and level of deception in the Romney campaign, showing those who are really behind that candidacy and their clear links to other deceptive presidential campaigns and administrations of the recent past. Presidential administrations that were eventually proven to have harmed our country while having falsely promised a better ‘Morning in America.’ In the case of the Cheney-Bush Administration, it was actually ‘Mourning in America.’ ”
The film has just been featured on the highly influential AllHipHop.com web magazine. Photo and film sketches trace deceptive marketing claims from Monsanto and Teflon to the deceptions surrounding the Bush pursuit of invented reasons for the Iraq War. The film also examines the breakdown of trust with the American people, typified during the Bush years and shows they are the same operatives and financiers now guiding the Romney campaign.
From the film:
- “Mitt Romney has held opposite opinions on almost every major social issue of our time.”
- “It is a campaign that exploits the socially insecure and tricks them into voting against their own best interests. At the same time, Republican Voter ID laws and re-districting tactics overtly targeted Latinos, Blacks, Progressives and the elderly- suppressing their vote.”
In a career devoted to the fight for and history of civil rights struggle in America, Alexander was recently involved in the Latino voting rights battle in both Philadelphia and statewide Pennsylvania as a founding member of LatinoLines.
