GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan scolded Joe Biden for constantly interrupting him during Thursday night’s debate in Danville, Kentucky.
“Mr. Vice President, I know you’re under a lot of duress to make up for lost ground but I think people would be better served if we don’t keep interrupting each other,” Ryan said.
Throughout the debate, a rude, arrogant and condescending Joe Biden interrupted Ryan over 80 times, smirking, laughing and talking over the Republican in a performance that Fox News’ Chris Wallace called “disrespectful.”
“I’ve never seen a debate where one candidate was so openly disrespectful,” Wallace said. According to the Washington Examiner’s Joel Gehrke, Wallace thought Biden won the debate, despite his childish behavior.
Biden’s performance was the topic of a new web ad produced by the RNC called “Laughing at the Issues” that The Blaze said “isn’t that far off from portraying the debate in its entirety.”
In a video posted at Breitbart, an undecided voter who participated in a focus group for CNN said Biden acted like a “buffoon.”
“He wasn’t acting,” wrote a commenter at Breitbart. “He IS a buffoon.”
Piers Morgan issued a tweet during the debate, telling Biden to stop smirking.
“This is serious stuff. Be Vice-Presidential,” he wrote.
“Biden laughing while Martha talks about Iran getting the bomb is just weird,” Kirsten Powers added.
“Biden really pushing it with his interruptions,” tweeted the Washington Post’s Erik Wemple.
“If Biden’s strategy was to come off like a complete jerk, he’s succeeding brilliantly,” said the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein.
