The jewelry collection at Phillips House is making its way around to world, making women everywhere feel beautiful. Philadelphia Women’s Fashion Examiner, Janet Todd, captured an exclusive interview with the designers of Phillips House.
Janet Todd: “How did you get your start in the jewelry design business?”
Lisa Frankel: “Well I always loved design and I think it is very natural for me to do this. It’s something I’ve had as a child, I’m always designing and redesigning and turning things upside down and inside out, it’s the way I look at things.”
Danielle Frankel: “She (Lisa) refinished her entire bedroom at the age of twelve, she refinished all of her wood, re-painted everything…”
Lisa Frankel: “That’s how I showed people who I was, rather through words, I created things and that was my pleasure.”
Danielle Frankel: “My dad is a practicing prosthodontist, he makes teeth for people all over the world… My mom would go hang out in the office and would play with the tools that he had. That was probably her first real exposure to jewelry creating.”
Lisa Frankel: “I made my first piece of jewelry when I was 17, and that was from a cork I received from my husband on our first date.”
JT: “What sets you apart from other jewelry brands?”
LF: ”Each piece has a story behind it and that’s what inspired each piece. The core collection that we have is the ‘Affair Collection’, and it’s because it’s designed to be used at all different types of affairs. It’s designed with hammered soft rounded edges and pave diamonds, and I can’t imagine anything it wouldn’t take you to.”
DF: “There isn’t anything that is released in our collection that doesn’t have the two of us 100% involved in it. They all have emotions behind them. We have a true understanding of the engineering of a piece. We really consider the wear when we’re putting out the jewelry.”
