It’s that time of year again… when leaves start to change color, and you feel a slight chill in the air. It means that fall has arrived in Chicago once again, and it’s time to celebrate for a good cause with a fantastic seasonal event presented by the One Hope United Auxiliary Board.
Building on the success of the past two years, event chairs, Jackie Lerash and David Mandell, have incorporated some new features this time around that promise to make the third annual Oktoberfest for Hope the best one yet! Advancing the organization’s mission of protecting children and strengthening families, proceeds from the evening will support the Day Treatment alternative education program in Lake Villa for a group of male students ranging in age from 10 to 18.
West Loop design studio and art gallery, Design Cloud, hosts Oktoberfest this year –a fantastic new venue that should be on the radar of every event planner in the city. And it’s the perfect spot to display pumpkins painted by children at One Hope’s Bridgeport Child Development Centers that guests can take home for a small donation. New to the itinerary for 2012 is a chalkboard wall for guests to tag with their own messages to One Hope United. Event photographers will be taking shots of the wall throughout the night to compile a time lapse file that will be displayed on the charity’s Facebook page.
The evening will also include an amazing silent auction. Highlights include a one-week stay at Indian Bay Resort in Crivitz, Wisconsin, a 32’ Samsung LCD TV, the Chef’s Table at Girl and Goat and gift certificates to Rockit and Sunda.
Blue Plate Catering will provide German-inspired bites for both sweet and savory lovers. Can’t wait to try the soft-baked pretzels, mini black forest ham sandwiches, and portabello sliders –among other tasty treats! And don’t forget the pumpkin cheesecake and mini apple strudels for dessert. Yum!
The Oktoberfest beer selection for this year is truly a beer-geek’s dream. Revolution Brewery went above and beyond to offer a wide-range of ornate and hard-to-find brews. Half Acre and Two Brothers will be represented as well, in addition to some domestic favorites and the seasonal Sam Adam’s Oktoberfest. For all of the non-beer drinkers, there will be wine and non-alcoholic beverages offered to round out the selections.
Entertainment will be provided by DJ Fenmore. Don’t miss out on what is sure to be one of fall’s stand-out events! Buy your ticket now!
