We have seen the streets of Damascus and Italy, killing Templar and corrupt merchant alike. Players have taken control of Altair back in 1191 and Ezio during the Italian Renaissance, both ancestral lives and memories viewed by a man named Desmond. Through the use of a machine called the Animus, Desmond lives and acts through history as these two men, killing for an Assassin’s Guild and living through old plots and stories of villains known. For this next installment in the series, Desmond straps in and gets to see the American Revolution in a whole new way in ‘Assassin’s Creed 3’.
Set in the new Thirteen Colonies in 1775, the British are cracking down and the colonies are on the verge of revolt. Whilst across an ocean, the British king still imposes taxes while the Colonies get no voice in Parliament The time has come for England to be taught otherwise. Desmond will live the memories of an assassin by the name of Connor Kenway. Born from a British father and Native American mother of the Mohawk tribe, Connor must secure freedom for this people at a time where that same concept and cry may bloody a country forever. He is a hero and strong supporter of the revolution which he hopes with gain safety and freedom for this own family.
Designs for Connor’s character are almost painstaking in detail, with actual Native Americans consultants being in on the project, in order to properly represent his partial heritage. Connor wears fringed moccasins, a beaded arm band, and a feather sown into the iconic white jacket. Beneath the well-known white hood, his hair is braided and tied back, securing his sight. His weapons are also very much his own. The tomahawk, his favorite weapon, and the bow show off his natural skill and are extremely deadly when implemented. A new tool called the rope hook is of Chinese design, allowing Connor to attach himself to ledges to take the upper hand in combat or chase down a target.
The combat has been given an overall. Writers and designs for the game revamped the system, making more fluid and brutal then before in order to reflect the conditions of the time period. Given the correct timing and conditions, Connor can cut through an tire group of redcoat soldiers within seconds. Connor can also utilized new tactics during his scrimmages, one quotes as being called ‘meat shield.’ Naval combat is also very present with Connor taking the fight not only on land to the sea as well.
Connor’s quest takes him through places well known. There is blood and violence in Boston and hunting to be done within New England forests. He even participates in some of the most pinnacle points of the Revolution’s history. One of these scenes is the Boston Tea Party, where Connor is seen helping other patriots dump the crates of British imported goods into the bay water.
It is a side to the nation’s birth that no one knows about save for the people who were there. This is the harrowing tale of Assassin’s Creed 3.
