October is ‘Depression Awareness Month’ and some Christians are hanging onto the burden of depression. You attend church clapping your hands but you don’t receive God’s message in your heart. Today remove it in the name of Jesus. We are children of the Most-High God! Not having a good day is one thing but to claim depression as an “illness or a disease” is another. A recent television series showed women and men talking about how depression has taken over their lives and how they have learned to accept what they have. Most of them responded as if they were foretelling their futures. Being fearful of being hurt, of being lonely, divorced and unemployed; although these things can be worrisome and are heavy burdens to bear, as Christians however, we must not live in fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 states: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. An article on WebMD.com stated that if you need help you can contact their Lifeline number at 800-273-Talk, but if you apply what they tell you without the Word of God, the power to transform your life will be void. This same article stated that people need to open up to others. These are good steps to take but why not open up your heart to God. HE will never leave you nor forsake you. Too many people are living one day at a time. Live like today is your last and God is returning for you.
Even Samuel mourned and felt depressed. God said to him, “how long wilt thou mourn for Saul seeing that I have rejected him from reigning over Israel.” 1 Samuel 16 (KJV) How long will you stay depressed. Don’t you know God’s Grace is sufficient enough for you? Ask him to deliver you from depression. Do not look to man to do this for you, for the world did not give you grace and surely they cannot take it away from you. Do not look to therapy and medication as your main source. Do you not know that most of those meds have side effects of suicidal thoughts and mania? When you have time, review it for yourself. If at the end of the day you are still feeling depressed after taking your meds, find an alternative method. This method is God! He will not only change your cognitive thinking but your way of living because HE is the medical cure.
God will give you true freedom sisters and brothers. Look to him. Become passionate about the relationship you have with him. Fall in love with his Words. Stop thinking about what ifs, remove the doubt. It is time to claim victory over your situation! It is time to think for ourselves and stop looking to others for validation. Too many people are stuck on their past failures, rejections, and downfalls, it is actually a stumbling block to their future. Think on his amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a sinner like me. I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see. Come boldly to the throne of Grace in your time of depression that you may obtain mercy and HE will be all that you need. Hebrews 4:16 (KJV)
When evil spirits try to attack you, center yourself on God and prayer. For His grace is sufficient for all! For his grace is sufficient for you! True freedom exists today. Go get you some of HIS Grace!
