Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale in the Twilight Saga) recently did a really great interview with PopSugar in which she discussed everything from her burgeoning movie career to what she really thinks of the Saga coming to a close this November with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.
Nikki Reed, as you know, is paired with her husband (American Idol alum) Paul McDonald for the soundtrack to Breaking Dawn – Part 2, and according to her, that won’t be the only musical release she and Paul have coming up this November.
According to her, she and Paul have actually laid down ten tracks, five or six of which will be included in an all-new EP they’ll release in November. The sound of the EP, she said, is “Very sort of folky, acoustic. Singer-songwriter kind of stuff. It feels really honest and real and kind of soft and simple.”
As for Breaking Dawn, Reed said that it’s finally starting to hit her that the series is coming to an end.
“I don’t really have words to describe … I didn’t think it was going to feel as dramatic as it does. And being at Comic-Con this last year and looking at everyone … and you know there’s a huge group of us, so it feels like a very unique experience every time we’re there … and just looking at everyone and thinking like this is the last time we’re all going to be up here together as a group promoting this thing that we’ve all been a part of for so long that we love, and it’s weird to like approach the last premiere just because the word last is in that sentence, and I don’t know, I don’t do very well with change, and this has been a part of my life for so long. So, it definitely feels much more sad and dramatic than I thought it would,” she said.
“We talk about the last premiere as a very sort of hypothetical, distant far in the future thing, and for two years, people have been saying ‘You’ve been filming the last movie, you’re about to start filming the last movie, how do you feel?’ and ‘Oh gosh! This is the fourth one, so the next one’s coming up and that’s the last one.’ And it’s just we’ve talked about it for so long that you feel really disconnected from the possibility of it coming to an end, and you’re like ‘Oh yeah, I can talk about it. But I don’t necessarily feel it,’ and now I think we’re all starting to feel it.”
Reed also said that she and Jackson Rathbone (whose child she is the godmother to) have become exceptionally close and that he and Paul have actually developed a sort of bromance.
“We’re all close in different ways, and I think as we’ve all grown up, you know we found different people at different times, and I think at this point with Jackson [Rathbone] having a baby, and he also lives really close to me, and you know he’s clearly in a serious relationship, and he’s a musician, and my husband’s a musician, and I think all of those things have just made, you know, going out on double-dates really easy and convenient, and there’s totally like a bromance going on between Paul and Jackson, so it works… and we just have very similar lifestyles at this point in time, so I see Jackson all the time,” she explained.
That doesn’t mean she’s not still very close to the other Twilight castmates who’ve come and gone. “I could tell stories right now about each and every one of them and moments that we’ve shared that are incredible and reasons why we’ve bonded … truly, we’re like a family we really are,” she added.
Finally, with regard to Kristen Stewart and her portrayal (finally) of a vampire for the film, Reed said that she stepped into it very naturally because it’s something she’s been waiting for from the get-go of the franchise.
