It’s impossible to escape Antichrist without an opinion, and equally impossible to do anything but love or hate it; without the graphic sexual violence, the film is flawlessly shot, edited, directed, and acted, making your opinion of the characters and their motivations the ultimate test of your reaction. If nothing else, Antichrist may provide something of a litmus test for hardened horror buffs. It’s one of those rare movies that if it doesn’t leave you disturbed or angry, you might want to have yourself evaluated psychologically, and that’s powerful cinema.
