Mila Kunis has been named the “Sexiest Woman Alive” for 2012 by Esquire magazine, which featured the exotic Ukrainian beauty in a sizzling photospread.
The 5-foot-3 brunette stunner, who lost 20 pounds to play a prima ballerina for the 2010 drama “Black Swan,” is totally unfazed by her recent 25-pound weight gain.
“I’m probably 25 pounds heavier in muscle mass and weight at this point,” said Kunis. “This is my normal body. It’s not 98 pounds.”
Mila, who dieted and worked out obsessively to slim down to 95 pounds for “Black Swan,” does Pilates several days a week, and doesn’t believe in starving or depriving herself.
“I’m a huge foodie, I love food!” said Kunis, who loves burgers and greasy Chinese food. One thing she can’t stand is when people whine that they just “can’t” lost weight, because she insists it’s possible with diet, exercise, and self-discipline.
“When people say, ‘I can’t lose weight,’ [I say] ‘No, you can,’ ” she said. “Your body can do everything and anything. You just have to want to do it.”
Mila, who slimmed down from 115 to 95 pounds for “Black Swan,” experienced firsthand how dramatically diet and exercise can change one’s physique.
“I don’t think I ever fully realized what a human body is capable of doing,” recounted Kunis, who went on a very low-calorie diet and did hours of dance training for Black Swan.
“But I think I was also, in a beautiful way, incredibly naïve. I believed I could do anything. I never for one moment thought that I couldn’t do it. I believe in hard work. In self-drive and self-worth.”
Despite being a regular on “sexiest” and “most beautiful women” lists, Mila doesn’t rely on her looks for self-esteem and happiness. “Looks go; they fade. I don’t think looks matter,” Kunis told Cosmopolitan.
Of course, when you’re as naturally gorgeous as Mila is, it’s easy to make such statements. But she understands firsthand that beauty doesn’t solve everything. While Kunis is known for her stunning green eyes, she was blind in one eye until 2010 due to a retinal condition called chronic iritis, an inflammation of the iris.
“I was blind in one eye for many years, and nobody knew,” she recounted. As a result of her longtime struggle with iritis, Kunis suffered blurred vision, developed a cataract and her eyes became different colors.
Fortunately, she got surgery to correct the problem two years, and is well now. “I was blind,” she said. “I’m not blind anymore. I had surgery a couple of months ago. They cut it open and dropped a new lens in there.”
Ironically, Kunis was teased as a kid over her looks. “I had a very funny-looking face when I was little,” she told OK! “I had big eyes, big lips, big ears. When I was little, I was constantly being made fun of for having big eyes, and that was awful.”
My, how things have changed. But being bullied as a child gave her a thick skin and perspective on what’s important.
“I’ve learned it wasn’t a bad thing to be picked on, because when you’re little is seems awful, like it’s the end of the world [then you realize it’s not],” said Kunis, who’s dating actor Ashton Kutcher. “I grew into my face.”
