Mary’s Pizza was established in the 1950’s in Vacaville and is a family run business. There are giant, black and white photos on the wall of the first location, which is interesting and may bring nostalgia to those who grew up in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and still remember the type of restaurant that it was.
The location has changed, but the recipes are the same. I enjoyed a spinach salad with blue cheese dressing, and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The food was tasty and I especially liked the salad. Unfortunately, the pizza is quite greasy, but I rarely indulge in this type of treat.
I noticed a young family seated nearby, and the small children all exclaimed when the pizza came out, “Pizza, it’s the pizza! Pizza is here!” It was funny, cute and adorable. I can imagine two or three generations of children being this excited about their pizza’s arrival to their table. It is easy to see why it has been a popular family spot in Vacaville.
The wait staff is helpful, friendly, and polite. They made changes to my salad without complaint, and service was great. The restaurant serves beer and I so I had a Blue Moon on tap, with a slice of orange. For dessert, I tried the chocolate ice cream pie. It is served with whipped cream, and was fun to eat.
I recommend Mary’s Pizza, especially for families and groups, because the pizza experience is just better when it is shared.
