The University of Maryland is sponsoring master naturalist training at the Audubon Naturalist Society in Chevy Chase. The course will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from Oct. 2 to Oct. 15. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Students will learn about the ecology, plants, and animals of Maryland and they will receive right hours of hands-on field work. The course costs $250.00. The Chesapeake Climate Action Network is holding The Maryland Energy Forum: The Future of Coal, Fracking, and Alternatives to Incineration on Oct. 3. It will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at the Frederick Community College. The forum will discuss methods of moving to clean and renewable energy. The Irvine Nature Center is holding their annual “un-gala,” Pumpkins on the Green, that celebrates nature, on Oct. 5 . The event starts at 6:30. Meals will be provided by Linwoods and emphasize seasonal selections. There will also be live music and live and silent auctions. Guests must be at least 21 years old.
