Mariah Carey told Barbara Walters of “The View” Thursday of the threat she alleges Nicki Minaj made against her Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C.. The two “American Idol” judges were disagreeing over the talent of a contestant during auditions when Minaj stormed off the set and according to Walters, “She said that when Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say, ‘If I had a gun I would shoot the b**ch”. Bonnie Fuller of HollywoodLife said, “Nicki Minaj is out of control. American Idol’s producers may be thinking they have ratings gold on their hands, but they are playing with fire”.
Mariah Carey also told Walters that several staffers including hairdressers and producers overheard the comment too, according to The New York Daily News. Barbara added, “She doesn’t feel that anything would happen, but Nicki is unpredictable, and Mariah says she can’t take a chance and she has hired extra security”.
Video shows some of the dustup, with Minaj waiving her hands in the air and yelling, “I told them I’m not f***in’ putting up with her f***ing highness over there. Figure it the f**k out. Figure it out”.
Minaj’s people didn’t respond to requests for a comment after Walters broadcast the fiasco on her show Thursday, but Nicki did take to Twitter saying, “Barbara Walters didn’t reach out from our team…I guess we’re too dangerous”.
Later she continued her verbal assault on Mariah Carey tweeting, “I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we’ve had since simon…Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn”.
Bonnie Fuller of HollywoodLife gave “American Idol” producers a major dressing down yesterday for perhaps playing up the whole feud angle for ratings. She said they need to kick Nicki Minaj off the show immediately and that, “It’s completely unacceptable, unprofessional and illegal to threaten to shoot anyone, let alone Mariah Carey, her fellow judge”.
Fuller’s feelings are that all this commotion and bickering between the two diva judges may be entertaining for a while, but it will burn itself out quickly. She points to how that happened when Rosie O’Donnell caused daily scream-fests on “The View”.
Fuller laments, “And what about the contestants, whose talent is supposed to be the focus of the show”?
HollywoodLife hears that behind the scenes, many staffers at “American Idol” are on Mariah’s side in all this. They feel the only major diva on the waning talent show is Nicki Minaj, and they’re already “sick of her attitude”.
“Well, Major Attitude combined with a shocking threat and serious mean tweets to Mariah all add up to one action that should be taken. The sooner, the better – fire Nicki Minaj”!, Fuller said.
