The “Long Island Medium” is one of many mediums and psychics with a following around the country today, so why does Theresa Caputo have her own show and the other’s don’t? As Lohud.com reports Saturday, October, 27, 2012, a woman who lives fairly close to the “Long Island Medium” does the same thing as Caputo, but Francine Tesler doesn’t have her own show.
Sunday night Theresa will showcase just why she’s become a hit show as her two new episodes deal with the great outdoors. She gives grieving parents some shocking news about the death of their daughter. This is nothing to worry about as Theresa never deals in the type of news that would leave someone worse off than they were before seeing her.
This shocking news will most likely be something the parent’s welcome. Look for a group reading to make a break-through for Theresa and her father, who never really knew what to make of her abilities, according to Comcast Xfinity menu.
Why Theresa Caputo has a show and others don’t is because she not only has a gift with the dead, but she also has a gift with the living. This keeps the viewers coming back and wanting more! While the “Long Island Medium” talks to the dead, that’s not all she does. Theresa is a package deal that covers all the bases needed to support a hit show. She has a one of a kind personality which is just the right mix of warmth, comedy and humility.
When you add this to her somewhat naïve and humble presentation with her ability to speak through facial expressions alone if needed, you have one woman that was born to be a celebrity. The average person just can’t help but like her. Theresa and her Long Island accent, which she denies she has, charms the believers and critics alike.
Theresa’s head hasn’t gotten swollen with all this attention, which speaks to another attribute that people find likeable about Theresa. She’s the woman next door and that’s it, she doesn’t pretend to be anything that she’s not. As far as her talking to the dead goes, if she’s faking it, the woman is a genius that would rival someone with a Rhodes Scholar.
After watching her for a few episodes you can’t come to any other conclusion but that the “Long Island Medium” is the real deal. She does cold readings while out at the mall or in a restaurant and comes up with names of a stranger’s deceased love one and they are not the generic names of Mary or John. Theresa hits the nail on the head with names like, Margaret, Hazel or Hank, which are not names found frequently in every family.
The joy she brings to the people that she reads makes the viewer feel good. No matter what or how she does it, the end result of one of Theresa’s readings is that she has lifted pain and suffering in various degrees to many people.
One of the more common reactions to death of a loved one is taking on the blame for not being there or not doing enough, along with various other reasons that leave a survivor guilt-ridden. Episode after episode Theresa lightens that boat load of guilt that people tend to carry with them long after a death of someone they love.
The other piece to the “Long Island Medium’s” popularity is her home life, which is also part of the show. She’s married to a man who is very supportive of her “gift” and the way she uses it. Larry Caputo is a good family guy. He adores his daughter and son, but mostly he seems to idolize the woman he’s been married to for decades. As far as viewer’s can tell the couple has one caring and solid marriage.
The family interactions are another part of entertainment added to the show. It’s really obvious that Theresa’s puts her son up on a pedestal, but their daughter gets the favoritism as daddy’s little girl. It fits this family and each and every family member is aware of these dynamics. Theresa and Larry appear to have a very healthy family dynamic going on in their home!
This healthy dynamic can also turn comical and often does. Whether it’s the kids trying to bring mom up to date with technology or Larry trying to have dinner date with his wife without any interference from dead people, the Caputo’s can be as funny as any sitcom on today.
All of these family attributes, along with Theresa’s special gift of talking to the dead, is why the “Long Island Medium” is a hit show! While other’s out there claim they can do what Theresa does and that might be true for communicating with the dead; Theresa and her family communicate with the living in a way that’s almost impossible to duplicate. That’s why she has a show and others don’t!
