Generation Y has plenty to be concerned with entering the polling booth on November 6th. From the economy to social issues many arguments arise, unfortunately the liberals have missed a huge opportunity pertaining to Generation Y women.
At this moment disregard political views and consider one of the most important issues that are not currently being addressed to full potential. The issue at stake is women’s rights. The liberal left, the media, and pundits like Sandra Fluke have made a stance for only two issues, abortion and contraceptives. The left perspective have exploited the issues trying to swing females in voting in a specific point of view in mind. As contraceptives and abortion continue to be argued, more controversy rises causing less focus on the true concerns of what women should have. Although you must ask, from both the right and left perspective, these topics are important, yet are they the most important issues at this current moment.
The answer is no.
The answer isn’t meant to let you forget about those two issues, but truly the main issue is equality in the workforce for women.
According to CNN, about 300,000 jobs for women have been lost. Not only is this dipping into unemployment rates, yet also damaging women’s opportunities for employment chances.
How about the wage disparages?
Depending on the profession, there is a bigger gap in specific fields than others, yet statistics show women on average earning less income no matter the job market. According to Catalyst, jobs that are a profession, doctoral, or a position requiring a master’s degree, women make roughly $330 to $520 less than men. Job opportunities that only require a Bachelor’s or Associates degree are about $200 to $300 less. The closest gap between men and women come from less schooling than college which women make about $167 less than men.
The issue at the current moment is the economy and its effects upon the work force. Whether you are pro-life or pro-abortion, if you are right or left on the stance of contraception, the most important factor is being overlooked by the Democrats and Liberals. In actually the Liberals have defaced women to seeming their only concern is on these two issues, two big issues, yet not the most important. The necessity to get women back to work and on an equal paying field is the true task.
