Did your Halloween planning get pushed aside as you prepared for Hurricane Sandy? It’s not too late to finalize plans for trick-or-treating, Halloween costumes or Halloween party food for the kids.
Here are some last minute places to check in Lynchburg for everything you need to create perfect Halloween memories this year.
Walgreens still has a large selection of Halloween candy, much of it on sale. You will also find many Halloween outdoor yard items, just in case the winds have blown some of your decor items away.
Party City is offering 20 percent off all Halloween, available online only. However, with the airline delays on the East Coast, it would be best to stick to the store. Visit the website and print a coupon for $10 off $60 or more. There are costumes of all types, plenty of outdoor and indoor decor items, and lots of goodies to put in trick-or-treat bags.
K-Mart on Wards Road had a small but unique collection of Halloween items last week. You will most likely still find some items remaining.
Dollar General seems to have stores in nearly every community now. The store on Wards Road still has plenty of Halloween goodies left, including candy and party items.
Wal-Mart and Target always seem to keep Halloween items on hand right up to the last minute. Kroger is another good place to look for everything you need for Halloween and you can also pick up everything you need to make fun Halloween food.
Visit Lynchburg Community Market on Green Market Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to find many Halloween items including candy treats. The market is also open every Tuesday-Saturday from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. for all of your needs.
Smith’s Pumpkin Patch announced on Facebook last night that their pumpkins are all buy one, get one free today. They will almost certainly not have their inflatables up due to the winds but plan to be on site with pumpkins and fun.
Inflatables may not work so well for families either this year for Halloween. Strong winds howl outside as I write this today. Maybe the winds will die down in time to reinflate for Halloween.
Thomas Road Baptist Church’s Kids Karnival is set for Halloween evening from 6-8:30 p.m. Inflatables are a big part of the fun at this annual event but there will be fun for the entire family even if the winds don’t allow them to set up inflatables.
Have a party at home for the kids before trick-or-treating to avoid hungry monsters gobbling up all of the candy as you go from house to house. Fix some fun party foods using recipes from Pinterest at the link below.
Visit Amazement Square on Halloween from 6-8 p.m. for Professor Shockley’s Bugs & Hisses Ball, a fun time for kids as they explore tunnels below Amazement Square. Be sure to have the kids wear their costumes.
It’s not too late to make Halloween special for the kids. However you celebrate the day, it’s almost here so don’t wait too long.
