On Thursday night I found myself in the heart of one of the best events I have been to in Los Angeles. Oddly or perhaps rightly, it was the launch of a new law firm founded by my good friends Shahrokh Sheik, John “Jack” Holcomb and Dan Kramer of Kramer Holcomb Sheik LLP (KHS) whom I have aptly dubbed the ‘dream team.’ Cleverly the men teamed up with yet other friends, Travis Lester and Justin Safier of Broseph Restaurant Group (BRG) who similarly were celebrating the launch of their hottest, new steakhouse Smoke. The massive kleig light blasting beams into the night sky, drew well over 700 guests from far and wide, and while I avoided the inevitable West Hollywood parking situation by taking a private car service, every driving guest fully appreciated the complimentary valet service provided by Cadillac (and, yes, I too fell prey to peeking inside the gorgeous new 2013 ATS).
BRG’s Smoke on Melrose, like it’s owners and staff, is very chic. Acclaimed executive chef Laurent Saussy (also of Brick+Mortar) showcased delicious bites from the Smoke kitchen, while Director of Operations Leo Ahern kept everything flowing smoothly and Director of Bar Operations, Frankie Mortellaro, ensured only the best of libations were liberally poured (in part thanks to our very generous sponsor, Mario Soza) with guests listening and dancing to the sounds of DJ mp.
Clients, colleagues and friends of Kramer Holcomb Sheik, were joined by sponsors Primitive Shoes, Watson Court Reporters, Narver Insurance and a plethora of celebrities from the brilliant Billy Zane (Titanic), Max Ryan (Sex and the City 2), Scott Elrod (Argo), Aldis Hodge (Leverage), William ‘Billy’ Miller (All My Children), James Harvey Ward (True Blood), Gallagher (comedian), Casey Janssen (Toronto Blue Jays Pitcher), Anton Kasabov (Tekken), ABC’s Bruce Reynolds, SyFy’s Austin Porter, MTV’s Okera Banks, Vanessa Branch (Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, 3), 5x Emmy Winner Gabor Csupo, Filter’s Guitarist Rob Patterson, to special guests, Countess Michelle Czernin von Chudenitz, Lord Justin Howard, Joyce Chow (media personality), Jill Fraser (Founder of Jill Milan Couture Clutches), Wesley Stevens (Vox), Rob Lo Chihwen (Director), Dick Raùl Vega Muñoz (Trade Commissioner of Ecuador), Craig Malone (Hands on PR), Gary Ousdahl (producer), Marco Rea (WME), Darren Darnborough, Emmy Nominee Vincent de Paul (The Bay), Galina Sobolev (Designer, Single Dress), Lloyd Klein (Couture Designer), Kara Lusardi (Designer, Bobi Collections), Julia Verdin (Producer), social maven Jenny Leeser, Marc Chamberlain, Todd Hawkins (St. Jude’s), Kelley Coughlan and April Eaton (from BRG’s MelrosePR), recording artist JM Paris, Brent Roske (Host/Producer, Chasing The Hill), Corinne Becker (Girl Parts) among many others.
Event producer Jessica Kill (of PPMG) captured everyone’s attention at 11pm, and gave a short introduction of the launching teams and presented each partner with a bottle of Pierre Jouet. On the count of five, corks were unanimously popped and celebratory glasses poured.
When you get an opportunity, definitely check out Smoke. I am newly obsessed with the brussels sprouts, though everything on the menu is delicious and perfectly compliments their extensive wine list. http://www.smoke-la.com
And for those who are ever in need of an attorney – either to glance over your next contract, or to defend you in court, you must meet my attorneys. KHS’ new offices on Century Park East in Century City, CA are the perfect home to their full-service litigation and transactional law firm. Yes, they offer business, intellectual property, entertainment law, consumer & tort, and labor & employment law services. These are the men I trust… http://www.khslaw.com/
