Here’s a list of this week’s dog-related activities in the Kansas City metro.
Thursday, Oct. 4; Saturday, Oct. 6
Hamburger Mary’s (101 Southwest Blvd., KCMO) is hosting two charity bingo events this week for local animal welfare organizations. Thursday’s event is from 8 to 10 p.m. and benefits the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation. On Saturday, play bingo from 5 to 7 p.m. and raise money for Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption.
Friday, Oct. 5
The Hy-Vee store at 310 S.W. Ward Road in Lee’s Summit is hosting a pet event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attending this event will be various pet-related businesses, including local veterinarians and dog trainers. The Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter and Jade’s Mission will have adoptable animals on site. Pet supplies will be available for purchase.
Join Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter for the FOPAS Pawsta Party. It’ll be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherby Lake Community Center (8230 Potomac Ave., Weatherby Lake). Adult admission is $10; children and seniors eat for $5. Dinner includes all the pasta you can eat with many sauce choices, plus bread, dessert and drinks.
Saturday, Oct. 6
Registration for the Jade’s Mission Poker/Bike Run begins at 9:30 a.m. at Laurel Automotive (9109 E. Gregory, Raytown). Kickstands go up at 11 a.m. The ride ends at Tool Shed Lounge (14940 40 Highway, KCMO), with lunch served from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost is $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. This year’s Hyde Park Homes Tour will host adoptable pets from KC Pet Project. Meet them from noon to 4 p.m. at 3335 Harrison in KCMO.
HELP Humane Society is hosting a low-cost vaccination clinic from 1 to 5 p.m. at Man’s Best Friend Pet Resort (329 S. Mullen Road, Belton). No appointment is necessary. Call 816-318-4357 if you have questions.
The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City (5445 Parallel Parkway, KCK) is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a party and open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Enjoy music, food, beverages and meeting adoptable animals. If you can’t make the celebration, HSGKC asks that you consider making a donation of $100 in honor of the shelter’s 100 years of service to homeless pets.

Kansas City REGAP (Retired Greyhounds as Pets) presents A Toast to GreyheART — To Grace From Race: Greyhounds’ Day Out & Art Gala. It’ll be from 1 to 4 p.m. at ABC Business Records Center (3231 Gilham Road, KCMO). The afternoon features an art show, silent auction, wine tasting and music. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased online, at Pooches’ Paradise Day Spa and Resort (218 W. 74th St., KCMO) or at Boozefish Wine Bar (1511 Westport Road, KCMO). The requested attire is cocktail wear on top and athletic wear from the waist down. Greyhounds are invited, but must wear muzzles.
Plus: Midwest Animal ResQ wants to see your dressed-up pets, so sign up for MARQ’s Halloween Pet Costume Contest. Register on the MARQ website with your $25 entry fee starting Oct. 1 to Oct. 7; you can also click the “donate” link on MARQ’s Facebook page. Put “Halloween” in the note. Then, submit your pet’s photo to email@example.com. All voting will be done on the Facebook page. The first voting round runs from Oct. 8 to 13; the second round will be Oct. 15 to 20. The final round will be Oct. 22 to 30, with the winner announced on Halloween. Prizes will be given for the first three placements.
