What if you could be a big time macho movie star…I’m talking Tom Cruz big…
You’re a leading man who, up on the silver screen, makes love to gorgeous women, while taking out the bad guys with a few quick punches and kicks, never breaking a sweat…
Audiences all over the world love you…Your films make zillions of dollars and…Everyone knows you are…gay.
Fairytale right? Unfortunately, in the year 2012 the answer is…yes. So what’s a famous actor to do? Lie to himself and to the public…about who he really is?
Well, that’s exactly the problem facing Justin Rush (Adam Huss) in this new musical, playing at the Celebration Theatre, inauguarating its 30th anniversary season.
Justin is married to Amanda (Carrie St. Louis) a beautiful, rising actress. To the public, this Hollywood dream couple couldn’t be happier.
Only problem is, their marriage is starting to unravel. You see, Justin has just met Chris Andrews (Tyler Ledon) and he’s in love.
Chris is Justin’s publicist’s assistant. And speaking of Miss publicist…Her name is Buck and she’s played by the extraordinary, Alet Taylor, who absolutely steals the show. Someone please give this woman a job on Broadway.
Anyway Chris and Justin have to keep their relationship a secret, but in the age of…Twitter, TMZ, OMG, I-Phones, I- Pads and the Paparazzi, this is absolutely impossible. Privacy, as we all know, is a thing of the past….
‘Justin Love’ is a story about a person at the crossroads of his life. Will Justin stay in the closet or be the first movie star to…come out.
The musical, created by Hollywood publicist David Elzer, along with Pattricia Cotter and Bret Calder, with music by Lori Scarlett and David Manning, is a funny, biting, satire on social media and the celebrity obsessed public.. It’s also a touching love story and a definite…must-see.
Director Michael Matthews has put together a very talented cast, including…Grant Jordan and Terrance Spencer as Chris’s roommates and Ciaran McCarthy as Amanda’s love interest/photojouralist.
The songs are very clever, but the two STANDOUTS that will have you falling off your chair are…’The Superficial’ and ‘Don’t Shit Where You Eat’ They alone are worth the price of admission.
