The delightfully unpredictable, totally original, master filmmaker John Waters is also a thoroughly generous gentleman who is again appearing in person to benefit New London county Connecticut’s Alliance for Living, an HIV/AIDs organization.
To properly describe this world-wide show biz phenomenon we turn to a Facebook page maintained by Pete Luckhurst (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Josh McCullough (email@example.com) for getting it so right about John with their ‘Officially Filthy UNOFFICIAL Facebook for The Pope of Trash!’ Check it out at http://www.facebook.com/#!/JohnWatersFanPage/info.
As most slightly-off-center-in-a-twisted-kind-of- fun-way fans know that you just can’t see any one of John’s movies enough in one lifetime. At the risk of rolling out a laundry list of his films (adult material) that might possibly glaze over every eyeball, we must, at minimum, mention ‘Mondo Trasho,’ ‘Pink Flamingos,’ ‘Polyester,’ ‘Hairspray,’ ‘Serial Mom,’ ‘Pecker’ and ‘Cecil B. DeMented.’ According to Pete and John, Waters is “currently trying to make a terribly wonderful children’s Christmas adventure called ‘Fruitcake.’
Although his humor is black, his heart is as red as a valentine. He is finding time to help raise funds in Connecticut – again. According to Kelly Thompson, Executive Director of the HIV/AIDS Alliance for Living, John will present his one-man show, a “vaudeville” act, that celebrates the film career and obsessional tastes of the man who has been giving bad taste a good name for over 40 years.
This opportunity to enjoy the unapologetic and uninhibited humor of this top-ranked performer is on Friday, November 9, 2012 7:30 pm at the Garde Arts Center, 325 State Street, New London, Connecticut. It will be followed by a Post Show VIP Fundraising Reception in the Garde’s Pfizer Mezzanine. VIP Tickets: $100 per person.
The Alliance is still offering VIP Reception Sponsorship levels: Pink Flamingos at $1,000, including six tickets to the show and reception, one autographed book ½ page ad in the playbill. Hairspray for $500 which includes four tickets to show and reception, ¼ page ad in the playbill. Crybaby is $250 and includes two tickets to show and reception, and name in the playbill.
For sponsorship opportunities – corporate, organizations and individuals as a living tribute for a loved one who was a victim of AIDS, please contact Kelly Thompson, Executive Director Alliance For Living 860-447-0884 extension 228. kthompson@alliance forliving.org. http://allianceforliving.org/events.html.
