The 40th running of the Jersey Shore Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Gateway National Park, Sandy Hook, N.J. The Half Marathon starts at 9:00 a.m. and an accompanying 5K will start at 9:05 a.m.
The race has a long history at the Jersey Shore as one of the premiere events attracting a large field of competitive and recreational runners. The race moved to Sandy Hook in 2002 as a result of construction along the previous course in Long Branch, N.J.
It is a fast and flat USATF Certified course which takes runners nearly to the tip of Sandy Hook with a view of New York Harbor and the historic Sandy Hook Lighthouse. It is chip timed with clocks and aid stations every two miles. All finishers will receive a very distinctive finish pendant.
Runners can get registration information on the event web site. The day of registration will take place only at McLoone’s Rum Runner located on 816 Ocean Ave (Route 36) in Sea Bright a few miles south of Sandy Hook. Post registration opens there at 7:00 a.m. There is no registration at Sandy Hook.
