Zimbio, an on-line entertainment website that reaches more than 25 million fans, released its list of the “2012 Most Influential Women in TV” on September 24. The “Under 30” winners include Honey Boo Boo from TLC’s “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” plus Kylie and Kendall Jenner from E’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
Zimbio’s reasons for choosing 7-year-old Honey BooBoo (aka Alana Thompson) as an “Influential Woman in TV” are varied. “Even if you don’t like Honey Boo Boo, you probably spent at least part of your summer talking about her,” Zimbio writer Jill Slattery said on Tuesday. Amazingly, “Here Comes Honey Boo” beat the Democratic National Convention in the ratings game this summer. “It’s hard to say just how long America’s love affair with Honey Boo Boo will last, but it’s safe to say that Alana and the rest of the Thompson family are loving their ride on the 15 Minutes of Fame train,” Slattery added.
Sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” also made Zimbio’s list of “Under 30: TV’s Most Influential Women” list for 2012. The 15 and 16-year-old teen sisters boast a combined 6.6 million Twitter followers and are primed to step into the spotlight once Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian decide to step out of it. Kylie and Kendall have already walked the runways during New York Fashion Week and Kendall is set to appear on “Hawaii Five-O” this season. According to Zimbio, “Though they may have a gaggle of ultra-successful siblings, Kendall and Kylie have become little superstars in their own rights.”
The other “Under 30” TV stars that made Zimbio’s 2012 list of “Most Influential Women in TV” include:
- Kaley Cuoco (26) from “The Big Bang Theory”
- Nina Dobrev (23) from “The Vampire Diaries”
- Lucy Hale (23), Shay Mitchell (25), Troian Bellisario (26), and Ashley Benson (22) from “Pretty Little Liars”
- Miranda Cosgrove (19) from “School of Rock” and “iCarly”
- Blake Lively (25) from “Gossip Girl”
- Lena Dunham (26) from HBO’s “Girls”
- Kelly Osbourne (27) from “The Osbournes” and “Fashion Police”
