Sarah and Elissa want to make a fresh start in a small, upscale, rural town after her divorce from a rock star. They arrive in town on time but the realtor is late. Sarah becomes somewhat agitated with this. Elissa just blows it off and walks into the house. Both of them are taken aback with the breathtaking view of the park behind their house.
While they are moving into their new house, Sarah tells her daughter about the history behind their neighbors and the house at the end of their street. Her mother continues to tell her that this is the only way they could afford to live in this neighborhood. Elissa just looks at her wearily. www.imdb.com/title/tt1582507.
Both of them attend a barbeque at their neighbor’s house. The neighbor’s begin to tell Sarah and her daughter about their new neighbor. They tell them that the house is ruining their chances of selling and decreasing their house values. They continue to make comments about burning the house down and so forth. This does not impress Sarah and Elissa.
As they walk home from the barbeque, they give their opinions about their new neighborhood and the people that dwell there. That evening, Elissa makes dinner for her mother. Sarah thanks Elissa for making dinner. She tells her mother that her father learned her how to make dinner. Sarah becomes frustrated with her daughter for bringing up her ex-husband and becomes sarcastic. Elissa just smiled at her then and begins to tell her that she guessed that she carried around that lighter because she likes it even though she does not smoke. Her mother notices her sarcasm. www.facebook.com/HouseAtTheEndOfTheStreet
Elissa goes to school and gets invited to a ‘feed the hungry’ meeting. She soon finds out that this is a party for rich kids and an excuse to use their parents homes. This does not impress her. Her neighbor’s son attempts to have sex with her and it completely turns her off. She begins to walk home. This is where she meets Ryan, her new neighbor from the house at the end of the street. He offers her a ride and at first she tells him no. It begins to rain and she gets into his car. He drives her home and behaves like a perfect gentlemen. She thought he was a nice boy. www.bing.com/news and www.bing.com/videos
She meets some new friends at school and they ask her to sing in their band. She was just like her father when it came to ‘rock addictions’. She continues to talk to Ryan and she likes him but she thinks that he acts peculiar at times. She tries to understand Ryan’s behavior given the circumstances with the double murder of his parents. Elissa soon finds out why Ryan continues to stay at that house. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/house_at_the_end_of_the_street
Rotton Tomatoes suggests that this movie “is as generic as its title”. This movie is a perfect psychological thriller but it was boring at times. It was not a horror movie. The ending is perfect and then all of the pieces fit. The movie does definitely surprise you though. The director, Mark Tonderai did exceptionally well directing this movie. The cast, Jennifer Lawrence(Elissa), Elizabeth Shue(Sarah), and Max Thieriot(Ryan) were wonderful but after a person has seen so many psychological thrillers, basically you can just about tell what is coming next. This movie does not even have a video that you can pull to load onto the website. This movie gets 4 stars.
