“A good ghost story or movie can bring even the strongest man to walk around his house like a scared child.” Brandon Bushlow
Well, it’s about time to wrap it up for this Halloween 2012. This October has been very eventful for children of all ages in Omaha and the surrounding neighborhoods. Whether you are going out on the town or staying in there is still much to do in the next two days.
There are many ghouls and goblins that just want to stay inside. For the horror flick fans the list is long for freaky flicks. On ABC Family the ’13 Days of Halloween’ started October 19th. The network marked its 14th year with the debut of the films ‘Monster House’ and ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’. On October 21st a day was dedicated to the works of director Tim Burton. Mr. Burton’s movies such as ‘Beetlejuice’, ‘Corpse Bride’, ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’, were just three shown by ABC Family.
‘Poltergeist’ fans get ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this horror hit on October 30th. This horror flick was known for the tragedies that followed the making of the film. Not only will ‘Poltergeist’ be there to spook you, but it’s two sequels as well. Hey, another plus, part of the series, ‘Poltergeist the Legacy’ will be played. Poltergeist fans will recognize this as the spin-off from the movie. The series ran from 1996 to 1999.
Now, for more adult content with fewer cuts, you might want to tune in to the AMC channel. The Friday the 13th movies, which there are a total of ten, start late night on the 29th through early morning hours of the 31st. Then we roll right into Michael Myers; which, there are seven.
AMC has played movies with the most horrific, murderous, characters on screen this Halloween season. They have had the top ten….Pennywise the Clown, Jason, Michael Myers, Pinhead, Predator, Alien, Christine (the demonic car from hell), a plethora of Zombies, the sweetheart with the telekinetic powers Carrie, and the so rocking werewolves, Salina from ‘Underworld’ and the hot news chick in, ‘The Howling.’
The kids will be out doing their trick or treating on October 31st, and many of the grown- ups will be doing their partying. But, who’s to say you can’t just stay in the coziness of your own home to enjoy Halloween.
If you’re not a party goer, don’t have the little ones to take trick or treating, or just a homebody at heart, stay in, get the blankets and the popcorn, and tune in to AMC or ABC Family to get your thrills and chills this Halloween.
