The Las Vegas Halloween costume marketplace is filled with temporary stores which open from the end of September until Halloween Oct 31 such as Halloween City. This article is about the 25,000 sq. foot building and retail store operated year-round by Halloween Mart.
Vice President of the locally owned and operated in Las Vegas, Halloween Mart, Heather George, explained how her business is unique in the marketplace and can sustain profitability year-round. “Vegas costumers want quality products, great selection, and products for events year round including theatrical makeup and shoes. “
To stay profitable, Halloween Mart , which takes up about 25,000 sq. ft of space including warehouse, offices, and retail store area , employs about 12 staff members from January to June and then in the busier half of the year from about July through December, they have about 75 staff-members.
According to Heather,” People always find reasons to need costumes, theatrical makeup, and shoes here. Fortunately for us, that demand just seems to be growing. More and more organizations are adding events and this year there’s a “Glow Run” being held in Downtown, Las Vegas and we have costumes and accessories that light-up or glow under black lights. We also have costumes which are perfect for the “Zombie Run and Devil Dash.”
When asked what’s hot right now, Heather said, “Avengers is definitely hot and all of the latest props and supplies to create your own haunted mansion are in big demand. In fact, we have a regular following of customers who want the newest additions to those products on the market each year as they are released..”
The political face masks on hand include the likenesses of former U.S. Presidents such as, John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush($24.99), and Richard Nixon($19.99), to name a few.
With Breast Cancer Awareness month(October) and the races and walks scheduled, Halloween Mart has demand for “pink” costumes and accessories. There’s also pet costumes if you’re looking for those. There was a small dog sized skeleton costume for only $5.00

Heather was happy to let us know that there’s a huge demand for costumes year-round. Vegas retailers have opportunity to service the entertainment industry which requires products for every venue from large-scale productions to smaller strip club settings and neighborhood restaurants. According to Heather,” There’s always a demand for costumes, lingerie, wigs, shoes, makeup, and accessories.”
Heather modeled an upscale pirate jacket retailing for $90.She explained that the store prefers to stock merchandise manufactured with better-quality materials and fabrics.”We tend to cater to a more sophisticated market than some of the seasonal competitors.”
Halloween Mart also carries an extensive inventory of products that allows the customers to fulfill their needs at various price levels. Heather said,” Let’s say someone wants to be a Super-Hero such as Captain America. We can sell them a costume that’s in the $80 range or a theatrical quality costumer in the $300 range.”
