Wiggle-butts…you know the type…happy dogs who sway to and fro with their happy tails and swinging behinds.
Oscar , ID#A557424, is a gorgeous “wiggle-butt,” who has captured the heart of a volunteer who met with him recently at the Camarillo, Calif. animal control facility.
Oscar’s “Adopt-A-Pet” profile shares little information, but the shelter volunteer’s notes offer valuable insight to this young dog’s endearing personality.
I got to choose one dog to “model” evaluate and I was drawn to Oscar! He was so pressed up against the cage that I could see his fur sticking out from down the hall. I stood in front of the crate to begin evaluating, and he had one of the wiggliest pit bull butts I have ever seen. His happy tail was smacking both sides of his rib cage! I pressed my hand up against the crate to let him smell me and he licked it instantly, pressing and rubbing up against the crate to get scratches and affection. He pawed at the ground by my feet and stuck his bubble butt up in the air wanting to play. I stood sideways and wiggled around, insinuating the dog “play” motion, and he played right back with me. I stood up and asked him to sit and he plopped his butt right down. When I looked away from him he pawed at the crate to get my attention again, as if to tell me not to forget about him.
Despite Oscar’s adorable, playful personality, today marks “the end.”
In fact, at noon, he is supposed to be taken to “the room,” yes, the dreaded “death room.”
There is some hope for Oscar, albeit slim.
The facility knows that a volunteer is desperately working to find a rescue or foster home for this dog and he “should” have until day’s end before that dreaded walk.
Please network quickly for Oscar.
He has done his best at the facility to show the volunteer that he is a good boy – to show those around him that he wants to be alive.
Now, he needs the help of strangers to ensure that he is able to BE alive come tomorrow.
Oscar is good with people and has shown no reaction to other dogs. Notes from a trainer’s evaluation:
” OSCAR is a very mellow, very gentle, very sweet boy. He was SUBMISSIVE & GENTLE
with the decoy dog, came over wagging his tail and did a PLAY BOW!! He is good on the
leash, allowed extensive touching, came when called, was very responsive, and he let us
check his mouth and handle him all over, with complete gentleness & cooperation. “
