November will be a busy month for the folks at “Glee’s” McKinley High, as well as the school’s alumni in New York City and a certain student from a rival high school who returns to stir things up.
Norfolk, Va.-born actor Grant Gustin will reprise his role as Sebastian in several episodes beginning next month. The former Dalton Academy Warblers’ frontman once had a massive crush on Blaine (Darren Kriss), who, at the time only had eyes for Kurt (Chris Colfer). But, now that Blaine is a single man, Sebastian could finally get his shot.
Co-star Jane Lynch, who promises way more of her diabolical Sue Sylvester when new episodes begin on Nov. 8, says anything can happen when it comes to hookups in the coming months.
“It’s just been so much fun,” Lynch told DCTV Examiner during interviews for her new Disney animated film “Wreck-It Ralph.” “Now everybody’s broken up, so that’s really good .We open up the opportunity for them to fall in love with somebody else and also to heal their wounds.”
Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) are also a done deal, having called it quits on the same Oct. 4 “The Break Up” episode as Kurt and Blaine, Britney (Heather Morris) and Santana (Naya Rivera), and possibly Schue (Matthew Morrison) and Emma (Jayma Mays).
With these eight mainstays dominating the season’s storylines alongside new characters Brody (Dean Geyer), Kitty (Becca Tobin) Marley (Melissa Benoist) and Jake (Jacob Artist), Sue Sylvester and her madness haven’t gotten as much screen time thus far.
“Everybody’s getting a little less because they’re trying to lay the pipe for the new people and tie up storylines and establish the storylines in New York,” Lynch explained. “But, this next episode coming up is more heavy for me. Way heavier.”
That Nov. 8 episode, titled “The Role You were Born to Play,” will also feature the return of McKinley grads Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Mike (Harry Shum Jr.), as well as the debut of “Glee Project” winner Blake Jenner as new student Ryder Lynn, a member of the football team. The school production of “Grease” is being cast, with Marley, Jake, Kitty and Ryder competing to play lead roles Danny and Sandy. Mercedes and Mike are brought in to help cast the play.
“Glee” airs Thursdays at 9/8c on FOX.
